Let's Do Wine
How would this look on 14 or 18 count aida? What size would it be?

Hi Pud! I reworked the sizes for you. As you see from the pattern info, if you use 28 count the actual DESIGN area itself would be 6.9" x 10.7". If you use 14 count Aida cloth, it will be the same size. The difference being you won't be going "over" two stitches, just one "block" at a time because of the way the fabric is produced. If you go to 18 count....then the design will be a little smaller, 5.3" x 8.3".

To find the sizes: Click on "Cross Stitch Fabric" in the upper left menu of this screen, then scroll down to "Fabric Size Calculator". You can enter any number of stitches...width & height....and pick any size fabric count. It will give you the size of the design and also a suggestion for allowing 2.5 inches or so to allow for framing. We all usually allow 3 inches on each side, top & bottom for framing. Good luck! I am just a Stitcher who "chimes in" on this message board. Good Luck!!

As jersey crafter said, the size is the same as the 28 count, 6.9" x 10.7". This is one of my WIPs, and in does look good on 14 count (aida, for me). I will mention, though, that there are a quite a few fractional stitches involved. I'm sure you could do it using full cross stitches, but I tried that on another piece of the same fabric, and it didn't look as nice. I'm now doing all the 1/4 stitches as specified in the pattern. My eyes keep crossing (well, not literally, but it sure feels like it!), and I can't do a lot at one time, but I'm plodding through. BTW, my problem isn't that those stitches are difficult, only that it's tough for me to see, even with 3x "cheaters." Also BTW, I have three different patterns from Imaginating, and they all have fractional stitches. I don't know if ALL their patterns do, but it might be worth checking if you can't stand all the "poking" it takes to do the 1/4 stitches. Hope this helps.

I would strongly suggest that you do NOT drink wine while you are stitching "Let's do Wine" or you can bet that "frogging" will be involved...:)

I would love the French wine! It's gotta be better than the Boone's Farm "RIPPLE" that I tried in my much younger days....

Pud,
It just goes to show how I lack understanding the French language. When I first read your above chat, I I read it as OY, OY, instead of we-we. (It's the spelling that gets me everytime...) :)

Bermuda, I must spend half my life laughing--OY! OY! is where you are with this thing after the first 30-50 fractional stitches. The OUI part? That's a shout-out for either the pattern, or for what it represents. I've got one foot in each camp now. OY! OUI!
