How do I treat squares that have two symbols in them?

Hi,
I believe you are saying there are two symbols in ONE square of the cross stitch chart, yes?

If you have a square with two symbols ,does it have a diagonal line like this / in the square with a symbol on each side of this line?

It sounds like you have a chart that has TWO 1/4 stitches in one cross-stitch square which is using two different colors of floss for each quarter stitch.

Example: I have one square of fabric on the pattern that looks like this: */^ and the * is color 600 floss and the ^ is floss color 542. You would take the * color floss and make a 1/4 stitch that goes from the / to the upper left corner; you would take the ^ floss and make a 1/4 stitch from the / to the lower right corner. Look at a tutorial either on You-Tube, a website called "The Scarlet Quince" that has directions and diagrams how to make 1/4 stitch or there may even be directions in the chart directions showing a 1/4 stitch. Hope this helps!
