Although I am enjoying the challenge, this design uses way too many one stitch colors for the size of the canvas. There are too many colors of floss used that could have easily been eliminated.

There are many patterns that are like that.

There is no reason why you cannot reduce the number of color changes that you are stitching.

I have never attempted a project this size. I have done smaller ones where I have combined areas that have several flosses used in small areas and cut back on the number of color changes.

There are no rules in cross stitch. Do what feels right to you. Your piece will be similar yet unique to others using the same pattern

I agree! Eventually the computers will simplify the color changes. For now, they are trying to translate the stroke of the artist's brush. Makes for stunning color, but frustrating for stitchers. :)

I'm interested in stitching Mystic Hour but the photo looks to be a picture of the piece but not done in cross stitch. Am I looking at this wrong? Thanks.

When there is just one or two squares with a different color than those surrounding it, I just continue with the color I am using. I can't see a difference that it makes. Makes it a lot more fun.

Diane, I finished this piece and everyone asks if it's a painting. I assure you it's not. 300x200 squares, every square covered. It took me almost 4 months to complete. It uses 65 colors and many times just one or 2 in an area. There is red in there somewhere and I think there were only 3 stitches! The trees are a pain but worth it in the end. This one goes to my oldest granddaughter. I have finished 1 more and have started another all by the same company and same degree of work. I sure am glad I only have 5 grand kids!
