STAMPED VS COUNTED
IA M NOT TRYING TO BE RUDE OR SNIPPY OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT.

Please enlighten me.

I don't understand why so many people don't understand the difference between counted cross stitch and stamped.

I always thought, and still do think. (OKAY don't laugh at the idea of me thinking). Anyhow, Isn't cross stitch done on fabric, using a pattern, and stitching on a blank fabric.

Aren't stamped items really embroidery? You have fabric with a pattern on it. You are supposed to follow the lines using various stitches: straight stitching, lazy daisy, back stitch, French knots, etc. In other words, you are tracing the lines or following the dots.

Stamped items are usually pre-finished -- tablecloth, pillows, wall hanging, etc.

Am I making myself clear? Stamped items are not cross stitch. Right? You could do a huge project, like a tablecloth, using a stamped pattern and never make one "X" stitch.

As Desi Arnaz would say Lucy - you have some 'splaining to do.

I have the greatest hits of Desi Arnaz and it is there best album EVER.

There are stamped projects that are just cross-stitches. My mother had a queen size blanket done all in blue cross-stitch. I don't know how anyone could stitch such a boring project, it was a gift to someone who gifted it to her.

What I don't understand is multi colored stamped cross-stitch. You would have to follow a chart to see what colors go where, and if you can follow a chart, why do a stamped project? Unless the stamp is in different colors. I really don't know.

Now the reason people ask on here whether it is stamped or not? I think that's because they are new to the site and don't know where to look for the information. I think some people here, or one person, get snippy when people ask about it, and that makes me sad.

There are days when my eyes roll into the back of my head. I can only imagine what the ECS people might be thinking. The probably get lots more questions like this.

SUGGESTION: Maybe Troy, or another computer person, could put a FAQ choice and a Contact Us choice in the box on the left of the screen.

Is there a website for stamped projects only that we could direct people to?

Yes, I have lots and lots of suggestions. Unfortunately, no solutions!

I feel sorry for Kristi having to answer the same questions over and over every day! If people are that ignorant they probably shouldn't be handling needles and scissors in the first place. So many times the information is right in front of them on the item page and they aren't reading it. So much for my rant of the day.

I HAVE A GREAT IDEA

Everything Cross Stitch should hire a new employee. This person's sole responsibility is to contact every person who orders something to make sure that they are understand exactly what they will be receiving.

Wouldn't that be a fun job!!! (NOT)

OOPS -- I said that I wasn't going to be sarcastic. Sorry about that

laughing this morning!!! I did a stamped cross stitch queen bed quilt of the welcome pineapple in blues and golds for my mom. she loves it and still has it on her bed... have also done a stamped baby quilt or 2 for various people ... its a matter of liking a certain pattern. stamped pieces can be both embroidery or cross stitch and the ones i did were on cotton fabric not any kind of cross stitch fabric. so really it can be either... its the fabric that is the difference between stamped and counted. happy stitching ya'll!

Wow! I admire your endurance! It must be difficult to manipulate as you get towards the center. Were the blue and gold stamped in different colors?

I don't believe people are reading thoroughly. The information ie. kit, pattern, stamped, etc. is there...
