This is gorgeous ... I wish I had the wall space for such large projects.

Have you ever seen carpet on a ceiling??? I have. The thought occurred to me to put my cross stitch up on my bedroom ceiling.

I know: my brain goes in unexpected directions sometimes.

I wonder if anyone else has such weird ideas.

Can you imagine how beautiful it would be if you had a cross stitched nature scene or a stitched project of a different galaxy hanging above your bed and you could just lay there at night and enjoy the artwork until you fell asleep? The Pope and Michaelangelo had the same idea for a ceiling, but to be done in paint....

Oh, the Jester is beautiful! Did you begin stitching in the middle or start in the upper Left corner for this project?

Maybe not such a crazy idea after all. I wouldn't frame them with wood frames, but would finish them like bell pulls with interfacing inside and fabric backed and maybe a small dowel in a casing at the very top.

What da ya think?

With 40 + years of cross stitching, I have a pretty tall stack of completed projects --- like almost all of the Ginger and Spice and almost all of Crossed Wing. Many of them are at least 15 inches of stitched area and with a coordinating border they might be pretty amazing. I could even switch them out by season.

You gals are such good enablers ... I have added a number of projects to my stash. I've also pulled out out several unframed completed projects. Maybe time to stay off eBay for a while (where I managed to get 3 new Eva Rosenstand projects at a price I could afford) and move over to do some finishing.

This is kind of exciting when I think of actually having some of my needlework on display.

Sharon,
Sound like you have enough finished projects to do your ceiling! I'd go for it! But a word of warning! If you have company coming to stay overnight they are going to want THAT bedroom to sleep in so they can enjoy the beauty of the cross stitched artwork. OR consider doing that on the ceiling of your guest bedroom. They won't want to get up in the morning!

Once upon a time I saw a jigsaw puzzle of the Sistine Chapel...finished size (with a bit of framing and decoupage) would have fit a hall ceiling perfectly and brightened it considerably...I was "doing" ceilings after May 3 tornado and NEEDED whimsy...but I let my gen contractor talk me down...have sometimes dreamed about that silly ceiling. :)

GO WITH YOUR IDEA! It's your ceiling! Have fun with it! :) waking up to ceiling/wall that makes you smile everyday...almost as important as people who do that! :)

A lovely design that reminds me of Venice, Italy and the litle shops that sell jester dolls.

Such a beautiful project. I have not seen this jester before. I previously finished a harlequin piece that lives in Las Vegas and would love to do this piece. Is it still available? Happy stitching...
