I would like to know if the cross stitch patterns come with the floss

No, this would just be the pattern. The floss and fabric are listed to complete the project so you can click on them and order at the same time, if you choose. The cross stitch kits would come with everything that you need - pattern, floss, fabric and needle in one package. The nice thing about buying a pattern over a kit is that you can easily change the fabric to a different type or count. You can use the brand and colors of floss of your choice. If you should run out of floss, you know what to get without trying to match up what the kit manufacturer supplies. This also allows you to not pay for things that you won't be using. Hope that helps!

Only if you bought it as a kit.

Excellent explanation, Bruce. I doubt that I'll ever buy another kit unless it supplies the products that I like.

Thanks, Texas! I wish manufacturers would allow you to purchase just the pattern. Some of the kits are really nice, but I would prefer to purchase my own supplies. Comments posted about running out of floss or poor quality of the floss and fabric make me leery of purchasing kits. Buying the pattern separately allows you to spread out the cost a little too. You can get the pattern, fabric and some of the floss to get started and then buy more floss as needed. My current project has 63 colors and some require as much as 7 skeins. Just bought one of each color to get started and later picked up the additional skeins.

I totally agree, Bruce. I bought a Mirabilia kit last fall. The fabric was linen and the floss was by Color Works. It was a joy to work and they included more than enough. The floss came in entire skeins instead of the strand business that you have to try to figure out and sort through. I also bought a Dimensions kit because I thought that DD would like it. I immediately ordered Lugana to replace the 18 ct Aida and converted the floss colors to DMC. Now, she no longer likes the motif and I am stuck with all this stuff.
If am totally convinced that I will stitch a particular pattern I will order or buy everything but if not then I start out with just the pattern. Like you, I order one skein of each because I have loads of extra floss and want to reduce my inventory. :) Yes, I agree, the initial output is more manageable. I stress over things and knowing that I have a finite amount of floss would not work for me. I'd constantly worry about making a mistake and running out. I am not a perfect stitcher, that's for sure, but I like to do my best and having to "patch" with another brand is not ideal.
That sounds like a huge project that you are working. What is it? Can you post a picture?

Working on 'Fall Tree II' by Mystic Stitch. June 11th is it's 4th birthday and I'm only on page 10 of 25. There have been a number of times it has been stashed in the closet for months at a time. Life happens and doesn't always allow time for stitching. Still working full time, so only stitch some in the evenings and weekends. I am persistent, so eventually it will get done. ;-)

Will there be a party? LOL

Mystic Stitch projects are ambitious. I haven't worked up to those yet. Maybe one day!

I understand, Bruce, same here. Slow but steady wins the game. Slowly but surely I am beginning to think of stitching as the journey. There was a time when I could hardly wait to finish a project. I wanted to see what it looks like and would stitch half the night. Now, I just enjoy stitching or whatever it is I am working on. You are so right, life happens. Our granddaughter has taken over our lives but spending time with her is infinitely more enjoyable and important than any hobby. It also makes time spend on hobbies more fun. I never had time for hobbies when I was working, job, household and family took up most of my time. Now it's our granddaughter, medical appointments and various home maintenance projects. There is no such thing as "retirement". :)
