What's your opinion, glass or no glass?
Do you use glass when having your stitching framed by a professional.

Glass. What with natural gas, candles, oil lamps, smokers, pollution, people's NASTY little fingers...nothing is safe. :) It just seems cleaner... :)

I always use glass whether I frame it or my local pro does. I inherited a family piece, finished by my great-aunt, then my aunt, my mom and me. Without glass, it was terribly amd permanently stained by tobacco smoke. My great-uncle, my aunt and uncle smoked, so it was a lot of years of smoke. It vannot be removed, but it has laundered nicely and it will be behind glass.

I agree heartily! I gave my mother a Precious Moments picture years ago and because I was told by "experts" that counted cross-stitch should never have glass in the frame, it was framed without it. My Mom and Dad both smoked for many years and since the picture was hanging in their living room, it soaked up all that smoke. I got the picture after they passed and the white background was orange! I washed it and even used a product called Restoration on it and it still has a yellow background. The moral of this story is: If you want your pictures to remain beautiful, cover them with protective glass!

I recently finished a Sue Coleman cross stitch for my mom (the butterfly reflection), and definately glass is the way to go to protect all that hard work. We had it framed with anti-reflective glass which makes it much easeir to see.

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I will be having mine framed with glass for sure!

Keep in mind when you have the framer put in the glass, that there are at least 3-4 different TYPES of glass to choose from. I personally use plain glass, not the "Museum" quality glass that costs about the same price as a new Cadillac....
