First make copies of the patterns. Put the originals in a safe place.

Use gallon size baggies. Keep ALL supplies for each project in it's own bag. That includes copy of the pattern, markers to help keep track of where you are, extra needles and floss. If the projects have use some of the same colors buy a skein of each.

You can even put a journal sheet with information of how much time you have spent stitching, changes you have made, etc.

Try not to have too many projects going at one time. This will make you feel overwhelmed and nothing will get finished.

At his moment I have three baggies that I am working with.

Baggie #1 -- Squares of fabric to be gridded with no specific project in mind.
Baggie # 2 -- One medium size project that I can work on at home.
Baggie @3 -- Small project that has black "x" outline around a silly character that is a shade of blue. color. I take this with me to doctor visits and chemo treatments. The outline is obvious. I can stitch the inside the lines without having to lose my place or count.

I too keep my projects in seperate containers. I usually only have two projects going, sometimes three. One is always a big project; the other is small. Whenever I feel overwhelmed by my big project, I take a break and work on my small project, which makes me feel like I'm accomplishing something.

I usually have a couple going at a time. I have a smaller one that I can do while travelling and usually a bigger one on my large frame at home (still contemplating which big one to tackle next :). I do have some other smaller ones started, but I have found I need my magnifyer to do the backstitching so it tends to get put aside for the easier to see small project. I have small boxes for floss that I separate the project supplies into so the threads are easy to find.

I always have at least 2 or 3 projects going at the same time. One is always an ex-large one that takes many months to do. The others are ones that take a shorted time to accomplish and usually one is a gift for someone. This way I don't "go nuts" just working on the large project. LOL

I make copies of all my projects for marking and put the original in my file cabinet. Each project has its own plastic see through container with everything I need included inside so I don't get them mixed up. This system has worked for me for many years.

Aunt Connie, I have also ordered both an extra sharpener for my embroidery scissors and the desk top model.

We shall have the sharpest scissors in town!!!!!

I only do one project at a time--mainly due to the fact air sometimes distracts me as to where on the pattern I'm at--I do "mark" off as I go with sharpie liner. But most of my projects are large and usually on a stretcher frame that's not too portable except for better light in the stitching room. I like the "challenge" of large confetti projects--small ones I do for quick gifts. Besides I am running out of room to store all the "needy " supplies for each project--wife has suggested we build a tiny house in the back yard just for me and my projects/supplies giving us more living space in the House--LOL

I would rather do one at a time but sometimes needs must and I have two going. They each have their own bag but I don't enjoy jumping between two different ones. It messes up the rhythms.

I'm like xstitcher. I only like to work on one project at a time. However last year I had a large project going which I had to put aside when I was finishing some small projects and turn them into ornaments to hang on a tree. There were 28 of them. In the meantime I've got what seems like a zillion bags with floss in them for a total of 17 bags. some of the bags are for more than one ornament. I have several copies of projects to work on which I placed in the protective plastic covers. I have a total of 25 pieces of material prepared hanging over the back of a chair in my bedroom. I have one project for a sampler by Victoria Sampler still in the bag that I brought home the pattern, the material and the accessory pack from Nordic Needle two years ago. This year I want Santa Claus to bring me a magic wand like the one Cinderella's fairy godmother had so I can wave it over everything and get them done sooner than a year or two. My next project is a butterfly sweater for a friends granddaughter. I hope to get it done by Christmas. I have waiting some red metallic yarn for another sweater for her for next year. She only is size 24 months now. The red sweater pattern is for a size four from an old Bucilla Sweater book that I have. JoAnn's doesn't carry any sweater books fir little girls.

Oh golly bjukniewicz you really do have a lot going. You mentioned metallic garn for a sweater. Wouldn't that be a bit itchy? I'm not a knitter so I don't know.🙂
