wisper threads
Hi everyone - has anyone ever used the rainbow gallery wisper threads? Is it divisible into separate threads or do you use it all at the same time? I wondered how it would work for a beard for a santa project that I will be starting in the next couple weeks. Hope to get some good input. Have a great w/end. The sun is finally shining in N W Pennsylvania and supposed to be 71 degrees on Tuesday. Whoopee!!

Hi Cheryl! I have not used this Whisper thread myself...I have, however, seen a design someone completed wherein they used it for Santa's beard. It produces a very nice, different effect. I checked it out on Stoney Creek's website. In their summary, they say it is 80% Kid mohair and 20% Nylon (for strength). They suggest 2 ply for 18 count and 3 ply for 14 count. I also checked ABC Stitch Therapy who sells it. They say basically, that you should try a small piece of fabric using a different number of threads and see which "coverage" you like the best! Good luck! Oh, and congratulations on your heat wave!! It is only 52 degrees here!!! Best regards, Carol

Thanks Carol - the divisibility of the strands is what I wanted to know and you answered my question. I am going to make the Sue Hillis "Snowflake Santa" and thought this would make a nice difference in his beard. The blue suit Santa is wearing is so different that I just wanted to do it. Thanks again and I do plan on enjoying the heat wave as I know it will only be for a short time. Take care.

When having a question always check your stash. The more I thought about this thread I began to remember buying a couple skiens at one time and began to go through my stash and lo and behold there it was. It is only 1 ply thread which will work for the Santa beard beautifully. I tried it on a small piece of 14 ct aida and it looks very nice so this is what I will be using. Have a great w/end.
