stitch size
At 84yrs old, eye sight not quite as good as use to be. Stitch ct12 is very small stitches..can hardly see them. I try to use on 10ct. This item doesnt show. It says stitch count 186 x 196. I'm new to this and don't know what that means. How can I tell how small the stitches will be ? Any help appreciated.

Hi Lew,
Are you trying to cross stitch this on AIDA cloth material meant for cross stitching? The reason I question this is I don't think there is a 12-count AIDA cloth. Trying to cross stitch on regular sewing fabrics is not the same as using cross stitch AIDA material. The reason I'm saying this is not to be rude, but you stated the stitches are awful small.
As for your poor eyesight, I hear you. I'm in my 60's - don't tell anyone :) - and I use Magnification, bright light, my glasses AND Mag-eyes ( magnification glasses ) all at the same time PLUS I have cataracts!
As for the 186 x 196 numbers that is the stitch count of your finished pattern. So, your finished pattern will be 186 stitches wide x 196 stitches high which on 12-count AIDA going over one thread would end up giving you a finished frog picture of 15 1/2 inches wide x 16 1/4 inches high.
There are AIDA cloth fabrics for cross stitching all the way down to 6-count Aida cloth which you can find here on Everything Cross Stitch. Tap on the title "Cross Stitch Fabric" in the menu box to the left. It will take you to a chart that has different types of fabric listed. Tap on the word " AIDA" and it will take you to the different counts of Aida cloth you can purchase. You can see they offer 6-count, 8-count, etc. Keep in mind, if you choose 6-count Aida to work on, it'll be a bigger frog!!! On 6-count Aida ,going over one
thread, you will be doing 6 cross stitches per inch and your finished frog will be 31 inches wide by 32
inches tall! The LOWER the AIDA cloth number, the LARGER the picture.
