Duplicate Symbols Used
Hi everyone! I don't know if anyone has stitched this yet, but I ran into a question yesterday before starting it. I don't know about you but I like to read over the pattern information before I start stitching, so looking at this one I found the legend uses the same symbol not once, but twice, each for a different color. They use a "U" symbol both for color #472 Bud Green and for color #738 Sahara Cream; the other duplicate is a "Heart" symbol used for both color #3743 Pale Lilac and White. Now you might be thinking this is a question for the company/designer that produced the pattern - I tried, but neither of the the two websites the company listed exist - www.stitchx.com or www.xstitchpatterns.com. Any advice would be appreciated.

Wonder if this is them or if they are also a reseller?

No designer's name on it?

It seems easiest to me, less time consuming, & less frustrating to google for an enlargeable color image and work it the best you can. Worst that can happen is you have a unique bird. :)

Hello,

That is very strange! I tried using their website too and came up with the same message. I have sent this issue onto my supervisor to see if she has a contact for someone at StitchX designs so we can find out what is going on and get a clarification on the duplicate symbols in the design. It may be a few days until we hear something back but I will stay on this. Once I hear something back from my supervisor, I will post back on here. I apologize for the confusion and hopefully, we can get to the bottom of this issue quickly! Thank you for letting us know about this.

Could this be a case where these are blended threads - using 1 strand of each color?

This may be a silly question but are the symbols exactly the same or are they a little bit different, ie. a black diamond vs. a red diamond. Some symbols I have seen appear to be so close as to be identical but with subtle differences. Could you take a picture of it and show us what you mean. Maybe that would help. There's got to be a good reason why they did it that way, I think.

Hi guys,

We have an email in to our contact at StitchX about this issue. And unfortunately, the design does have the same exact symbols for multiple colors on the chart :( No instructions on blending or there being duplicate symbols in the instructions. I think this was just an overlooked error. But we do have an email in to them and hopefully, we hear something back here soon! We also asked them about their website because I checked that and both addresses don't work....very strange! Thank you for your patience on this while we are waiting to hear back from them :)

Addresses must be duplicates, too. :)

knitterchris,

Could you send an email to sales@everythingcrossstitch.com?! We just heard back from the designer and we now have the corrected file for this design. We can send it to you if you need it so just email us and let us know :)

Also, she did let us know that her website is currently being worked on and it should be up and ready here soon! Sorry for the confusion on this but we now have the corrected file :)

Thank you everyone for your replies. Kristi has been able to contact the pattern designer/company and obtain a corrected pattern. I have been stitching for about 40 years and can't recall a previous occasion when I've run into this situation. The instructions didn't mention anything about combining colors, and the directions were all in black and white - no color symbols, so many thanks to Kristi for her detective work. I am looking forward to receiving the corrected pattern so I can start on this whimsical design. Happy stitching to all! P.S. Kristi I have emailed you using the ECS contact form with my email address and mailing address. I hope I provided all the information you need.
