Are Walmart getting rid of their craft section? A lady I know got dmc Floss at her local one for .10c. a skein. Wow

I was at a Wal-Mart in Pennsylvania today and DMV was not on sale. I hardly ever buy floss at Wal-Mart because they really don't have a good selection and it's usually a mess.....never in the right order or in the proper slot.

Someone on another board said that she spent $600.00! That is six thousand skeins. Maybe it was a typo and she only spent $60.00 (six hundred skeins).

I don't think they are, but I do know they have epic sales sometimes on already cheap things. At my Walmart the regular price for DMC is $0.43 which is the cheapest price around town. Mine doesn't have a huge selection of DMC however, and they never have.

My wife is an Walmart employee-- each store is "analysed by home offices as to what "products" sell best in each location. Inventories then are adjusted. As to craft section(s), again depends on sales volume of individual store--our local stores have little or no craft section for needlework mostly wood, styrafoam, jewelry, bolts of cloth. Truth be told--I much prefer ordering from ECS--always get what I want--clean neat packaging--good service. Guess we all like bargains.

The two Walmart Super Centers that I shop at have a small craft department with very limited counted cross stitch supplies. They do carry DMC thread but the numbers didn't match up with the numbers that were in my DMC thread list for this particular project! I found them at JoAnne's Fabrics. I get annoyed with the DMC thread sometimes. It tangles and knots up a lot on me! I want to switch brands but local stores such as Joanne's Fabrics and AC Moore seem to only sell DMC and very little other counted cross stitch products. I was thinking of switching to Sullivan which is made in the USA! I like supporting home grown businesses!

Wasn't there a chat discussion(back in 2016?) regarding the QUALITY of the DMC floss skeins at Walmart versus the DMC floss skeins at cross stitch speciality shops?

I remember someone on the chat stating that a company was 'buying out' DMC as well. Wonder what became of that?
