I haven't seen any scroll rods bigger than 24", however you might check into a floor quilt frame. I checked JoAnn Fabrics and they currently have one on sale through online ordering. It looks as though it could work for you, it has adjustable height and clamps for fabric tightness. Good luck!

Hi lpnbarnes,

This is the larger version of our design, alot of customers stitch these larger versions on very high counts. There is a smaller version of this pattern on Everything Cross Stitch and that one is 28 pages for the pattern grid and will be 19.5 x 14 inches on 18 count. I am not sure what the return or exchange policy is for ECS but you may wish to enquire if you would prefer the smaller design.

Thanks and Best Wishes

How easy is it to flip that floor frame over to tie off thread?

Tereena (did I get your name right?) hubby says we should have a large piece on the wall, so I am going to do the larger one......if I can find rods long enough!

There are rids as long as 30", but I haven't seen them any bigger than that.

Turning the frame over to start/end threads might be an issue....hadn't thought of that.

I can see I am going to have to give this some thought! I haven't gotten the fabric yet, but I need to soon to get this bad boy started! I'd like to finish it in THIS life! LOL!!

You can get longer rods from a lumber/hardware store. If I cry my best fake tears, and those guys are not in the midst of their big sales event, they will even do cuts for me. Of course, it helps they don't change staff often, so I have known a lot of their employees for over 44 years!

They do make scroll rods up to 60"... But you have to get them QUICK!!! Closing their doors 25 Aug.

Marlene -- you should know by now that it isn't the number of pages but the stitch count you should be concerned about. More pages means larger and easier to read grids. Artecy could have printed the same pattern on 30 pages but it still would be the same stitch count. No reason you couldn't stitch it sides ways as long as you stay consistent.

Just wondering. How are your other big projects going?

I certainly wouldn't try to put that whole thing in a large scroll frame. It would be too hard to reach around on the under side to bring your needle up from the back. It would be more feasible to stitch it on its side, just remember to turn your pattern on its side too. Then you can roll all your extra fabric up, creating smaller , much easier to manage work surface.

VCESS: I know! I am so sad! They make great quality products! I am scrambling to find $$$ to place orders! Do you know of anywhere else I can get the No-Baste rods from? The Velcro ones?

NANCYE: so, the stitch count is 550 x 392 = 215,600 TOTAL STITCHES!

nita7: since turning cloth sideways was mentioned a couple times, and that's what DH suggested I guess I will give it a try.

One thing for sure is I think putting in the grid lines will help immensely! Any of my local chat friends want to help? I'll come to you!

Thanks for the tips!
