Is this for a Lavender and Lace pattern?
I believe that L & L has a chart for changing facial skin tones.

Thanks, Bermuda. I also want to change skin tones if I ever get around to stitching the pattern.

Someone mentioned a website a very long time ago I believe. So googling might get results. If all else fails select shades of brown that are pleasing to you.

"Told in a Garden- Lavender and Lace - Butternut Road" website has the floss color numbers to change the face colors. Look in the column to the left on the website about 1/2 way down under 'other information";
Where it says "alternate color changes for hair and hand"

I got those changes some time ago, as I am slowly doing angels for my two sons that have passed. The infant was half-black and half-Japanese, and my second son was Native American and White. They were beautiful kids.
Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum made those suggestions and her daughter was kind enough to post them.
Anyone who wants all cross stitched children to be white is living in a fantasy.

Su, how true. I've noticed long ago how underrepresented minorities are in the world of cross stitch! I wonder why.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your boys. How heartbreaking.

How about Dove SummerGlow Tex? 😉

More than likely minority themes are under-represented due to a lack of designers, more than a lack of stitchers. I wonder if designers would actually realize this fact, they would offer alternative floss suggestions on their patterns.

You have something there Nancye! It would be nice if designers would establish an alternates "skin color graph"
Automatically on the patterns and kits they sell. The floss color alternate section would not take up a whole lot of room on each chart; put the information on the instruction sheet or right on the leaflet!

Gloria and Pat Designs used to give alternative color choices for the faces on their Precious Moments charts/books. At least in the later charts/books. I think there were 3 alternative options. It was typically on the inside front cover or the first page or two of general instructions. I thought they were also on their website but it appears the website is gone. If I get a chance in the next day or two I will pull out a couple of my books to see if I can find the info and pass it along.
