I'm in mourning...sort of
About a month ago our last cross stitch store announced it will be closing unless Sheena can get a buyer. I was upset at first but then thought of all the stash I could potentially use up then promptly ordered stuff from three places. Sigh.

That is a shame that she has to sell or close! It seems like all the small retail stores like bookstores and smaller craft stores are becoming a thing of the past. With the internet, Amazon, overstocked, etc all these little "mom and pop" stores are fading away or more to the point being pushed out of business. I am guilty of purchasing online because it is so convenient but I do love to support smaller, community businesses also and try to do so, whenever I get the chance. There is one the cross stitch store five minutes from where I work that I frequent quite often.

I also heard that Nordic Needle in Fargo North Dakota is closing their store but keeping their catalogue and on line shopping going but haven't seen anything in their newsletter. I think with Nordic Needle most of their business was mail order.

But wouldn't it have helped more by making those 3 purchases from Sheena? Not sure the verbal-mourning at small business closings and then the on-line credit card spree aren't at opposite poles. :) And you aren't the first, or last, to do it in here! There's some very dark humor at work here! :) Not at all sure it's intentional! :)
