Starting to panic!
I'm just about done my project and have not found my next one. I will go stir crazy if I don't have something to start after finishing my last one. I have not found anything I love yet and don't want to just settle on something. Am I the only one that gets like this? I feel like I'm having writer's block (if I was a writer! lol). I need to find something that inspires me. Wish me luck everyone!

Nope I agonized for two weeks before I chose my next project. I'm glad to see I am not the only one. Good luck! You will happen across it when you are ready.

Try just browsing different sites? Are there certain categories you prefer! Landscapes? Animals? People?
Would you prefer just to look at items on sale? Sometimes, if you get a good bargain, you aren't as concerned about the subject.
Do you like bigger sizes of designs? We just reviewed several sites, like Artecy, Heaven and Earth, Orenco Originals.
Just look at the item's page on here, where you can see how big a design will be and how much it interests you.

You might select a very small item to stitch, say, for a charity...where they tell you what they need--small flower motifs, animals--at any rate, something that may be finished in a few days. That way you need not make a huge commitment, it is useful and meaningful, and you can continue to look for something more inspiring. :) But I warn you, it's habit-forming, too! :)

If you haven’t started a ‘wish list’ on ECS, you might want to consider it. That way as as you ‘browse’ and find patterns you really love, you can always add them to your ECS ‘wish list’ and have them at your fingertips.
Don’t worry, the ‘stir crazy’ happens, that’s why I have ‘wishlists’. My problem is going crazy trying to decide which of the patterns I have in my stash to start next since I’m in the process of expanding my WIPS.

I have used this explanation to my husband for many years now - "I order patterns to put in my stash so I will never be without a pattern I want to start as soon as I finish my latest one." So far this has worked and he just hands me the packages when he brings them in from the mail box. I also have a nice wish list here on ECS that I add to quite often but I also delete a pattern from it when it no longer looks like something I will ever do. I will be finishing up my latest 3 mini Christmas stockings for my 3 great grandchildren tonight and ordered a new pattern from ECS the other day that I hope is here by the w/end so I can get the threads and fabric ordered. I am working on "Songbirds" by Stoney Creek in the meantime. I do know that "panic" feeling when I don't know what I want to do next though. Some projects take a week or so to do and others can take a year or so and before you commit money and time to those you really want to make sure you want to do it. We all feel your panic now and then so you are not alone. About 3 years ago I was looking for just such a project to make for my oldest son and I was "surfing" one night looking for the perfect one and came across "Lying in Wait" by Kustom Kraft and knew immediately it was the one and ordered the pattern and fabric right then. I had never done a cover all pattern and these women on this chat room pulled me down from the ceiling several times before it was finished. They are a great group of ladies/men and have so much insight to share - you will be fine. Sit down on the floor - yoga position - fingers together and just let your mind rest. If you need any more help just please come back here.

I keep running wish lists too, and add/delete often. My problem is the opposite though - I have projects lined up like little soldiers! (And I have a stash that will last me 10 retirements!) Good luck, and let us know what you decide to do next.

Well decision made. I’ve settled on Mirabilia’s Spring Queen. I’m doing it on 20 ct Lugana in blue. I’m a little nervous though as I’m not sure how it will look on a blue background, but I’m going to take my chances. I guess we’ll see. Thanks for all your suggestions and words of encouragement. Sorry about the sideways pic.

Sunandrain,
Oh my between my wish list and my file folder, I would have plenty to work on. However, choosing which one I wanted to do next would be the real task. Of course, finishing my many WIP would be even better!
