Looking for A Little Advice ...
I am considering stitching this beautiful piece, which I just received from ECS, on 11-count Aida with 3 strands of floss for a larger product to put over the mantle. Has anyone else completed a large piece (particularly an Artecy design) on 11-count Aida? If so, any thoughts or advice? Thank you!

Since you are stitching on 11 count and using three strands instead of two you use a lot more floss. On the last page of Artecy patterns Tereena lists the number of each color there will be. If you are going to purchase your floss along with the pattern make sure to buy extra. If there are some colors that only have a couple hundred stitches you should be fine. In fact, as I typed, I got an idea. Contact Tereena at Artecy and maybe she can tell you which colors you will need more of.

Make sure your 11-count Aida fabric is large enough. I would use a minimum of 3-inches extra fabric on EACH side when calculating for mounting, matting (if any) and framing. Recalculate the fabric size needed at least twice before ordering fabric to prevent math errors.

Will do, Bermuda!

Have you ever completed an 11-count piece? Wondering if the larger sized stitching squares make a difference in the overall look of the finished project?

This is beautiful. I wish you luck when you start stitching it. It will be great watching it unfold as you stitch.

I'm thinking that increasing the size, by stitching on 11 count, should not affect the proportion, just like stitching on 16 or 18 count would just make the the finished product the same proportion but smaller. HOWEVER -- I have ben thinking that, just maybe, using four strands might make life easier. That way you can use the loop method of threading your needle instead of having to stitch over the beginning and end of each -- that will be the hardest part.

Do you have a araget date of when you want to be finished?

I have several framed-up WIPs already - so it may be a year or two before I start this piece. But, sometimes the muse calls and a project-in-waiting becomes "the piece." If I can ever learn how to upload pictures without turning them sideways, I will post my progress on ECS! Thanks for your insight, Nancye G!

uh oh, here's another one I may have to order. I really love wildlife charts. Artecy has some great ones. My wish list here is huge.

I agree with Nancye, I think the proportions will be ok on 11 count. And if you are going to put it up on the wall over the mantle, people will be looking up at it from a short distance so the picture won’t look distorted. I have not done an 11-count but my Artecy “Iwo Jima” project is on 25-count fabric going ‘over 2’. I purposely did this to increase the project size so people will see it hanging on the wall from a short distance.

What is the name of this chart. Any wildlife enthusiast would love it! Thank You
