Shortening the length of floss....
I’m definately shortening the length of my floss I’m using on ‘Sacred Hour’. Not because it is fraying the one strand of floss that I’m stitching with, but twice now I ended up (don’t ask me why, I honestly can’t figure it out) not pulling all the floss through and ended up with 1-2 loops on the back of the material which I was not aware of until three or four completed X’s further past the area. This past time,
‘Frogging’ was out of the question because the single strand of floss gets ‘torn up’ pulling it back out. Soooo, I clipped the loop evenly to make two strands of equal length and finished them under the completed stitches. I switched to Bohin needles to reduce any fraying of my strand of floss by the ‘eye’ of the needle and that’s working out well. 😊

,Don't feel bad. I use the loop method and I threaded my needle having mega problem. Could not understand why that row looked funny. Pulled a couple stitches from the back-how in heaven's way did I thread four YES FOUR strands into the needle. Lucky it was just one row. Still, how did I thread four strands into the small hole of the needle? I live to stitch another day.

LOL!! Threading 4 strands of floss into the small ‘eye’ of a stitching needle is one of those ‘unsolved mysteries’ or a
‘ mystery of nature”. We can’t explain how it happened, but just admire the mystery and beauty of it, like a ‘hole in one’ when golfing.....😃

Well I will just jump in with both feet...Due to health reasons I have had to give up my hobby that took overtook cross stitch(many many moons ago)...going to miss my stained glass...happened across the ESC site and I could not believe how much the patterns had evolved since I last took the needle to fabric which leads me ask...what is a bohin needle
I learned how to do cross stitch on my own, but from what I have read over the past few weeks I still have so very much to learn and from what I have seen from this web chat, this is where I will find the answers to my silly questions...

I hate to admit this, but I've done this very same thing!

Pamela - If you TRIED to thread four threads into a needle eye, you'd never be able to do it in a million years!!! One of those mysteries...

Ah, Bermuda...what brand of floss are you using? What brand of needle? I just read today that a newer brand of needles is available. It is called Pat's needle. They are sold in packs of 25 for $25, but size 28 (be still my heart) is $27.50. Pat ia Pat Carson who, with her friend Gloria Steele, designed many cross stitch patterns in older times for Designs by Gloria and Pat Inc. If you are interested, contact me at pittsuze63@yahoo.com . I would be happy to let you know the one online retailer that carries them. They are 1.5 inches long and the long gold-tone eye is the difference between these and other needles.
