Paper vs. Cross Stitch Material
I was going back through Chit Chat Topics because I get some really good tips. I know we all make sure our hands are clean and wash our hands more than usual because of the skin oil. I was wondering about stitching on paper. I was wondering if paper would have more of a tendency to retain our skin oil and we are not able to wash our project-would that be an issue?

I’ve worked on blue gray dark perforated paper and I have a friend that did her sugar skull on the white perforated paper and we had no issues at all. We stitched at lunch so we always cleaned the area before stitching and washed our hands. I never wash my fabric either. I’m very picky about the area I’m stitching in being clean and no food or drink near my piece. I also use Udderly Smooth cream on my hands and it’s never stained anything. Just very little tho. My hands get dry from washing them.

I've heard of this Udderly Smooth and also Gloves in a Bottle...problem is the Udderly Smooth makes no claims of stain-proof stitching and it contains mineral oil and lanolin. But if it works, it works. But I will continue to use Stitchers Lotion when needed and to wash my hands before stitching...and to use other creams and lotions at bedtime. 😊

What is this Stitchers Lotion and where do you get it?

I got mine at a small shop in Arlington, TX, but 123stitch.com does carry it...if ECS carries it, they're hiding it very well. 😊
