Updates
Updates from my world...

My new knee is coming along well. After close to 7 months, I can finally say I feel confident with it ...although any snow and ice outside throw me right off. I am going out more and more without my cane, however I do keep it in the car when I go out. Stairs continue to be an issue, but this is improving. I still cannot navigate the stairs if I need to carry anything bigger / heavier than an laptop.

Baby Dayton is coming along well. After a bumpy week, she has been diagnosed with a cow protein allergy. After a formula change last Thursday, she gained almost 7 oz by Monday. Dayton's mom is doing well also.

I'm on the home stretch for the baby announcement for Dayton and will post when complete. I recently found out one of my best friends will be a grandma again, so need to stitch another one for this little one. No wonder I don't have time to complete anything for me!

It continues to be cold here in SW Ontario. No snow predicted for this week, but flurries on the weekend. Please hurry spring..I can't take much more.

Have a great stitching day!

Mary,
Glad you are doing well and learning to use your cane and maneuver around with it. Also happy to hear Dayton is gaining weight and doing well. I hear ya about stitching something for yourself. It seems everytime I make something whether it be counted cross stitch or a wreath or whatever it is always for someone else. There is so much joy in giving though and I love their faces when you surprise them with something handmade. Here in Eastern PA, we are awaiting our 4th Nor'Easter on this first day of spring! Some say 3 to 5" some say closer to a foot. Who knows till it falls from the sky!

Happy that your new knee is doing well. Isn't medicine an amazing thing? In SE Oklahoma we have had NO snow or ice this year. They say there is no climate change. Yeah, right. We have had many days with the heat off and doors open. I just love the name Dayton and am looking forward to the baby announcement. Keep on getting better and you will be out and about with no worry, may be a few flowers? Pam

Mary,
Since I haven't had any surgeries yet, I'm not aware of how long it takes to fully recover. 7 months seems so long! Keep being careful. Dayton's little belly must have been giving her fits, glad to hear things are looking better and she's gaining weight. How are her siblings taking to her?
Expecting snow tonight, blah

Liz,
It can take up to a year after a total knee replacement for all the healing to take place and all the swelling to go down. So I am well within the norm. I was so impatient at the beginning and beating myself up because I wasn't where I thought I should be. I have learned to be patient and take it day by day, push myself on the days I can tolerate it and back off on the days I can't. I find shopping a challenge so I break my errands/shopping up into smaller manageable bits and do a little each night after work before I go home rather than all at once.
My other knee is beginning to show the same pain patterns so a second replacement is inevitable. No idea when, I don't need to see my surgeon again until August, so I will bring it up then.

Dayton's siblings are in various stages of getting used to her. Eldest sister is almost 10 so she just adores her. Brother at 5 likes her well enough but wishes she was a boy. Second sister at 2 1/2 was quite used to being the baby and is having some problems, but this too shall pass.

A learn along the way process. I know I'd be impatient at first too. I can still get down on my knees, but it's the getting back up that causes a problem! :)

Quite a while ago my doctor told me I should get both replaced, but I wanted to wait till I retired. Then DD tells me medicare will only pay for the cheapest piece of crap hardware. Do it before you retire!!! 😊

Another piece of good news...I went to see my physiotherapist yesterday and I don't need to go back unless I have problems. YES!! It seems like I have been going forever, it was twice a week for Oct - Dec, then a monthly check in for Jan- Mar.
Still cold here in SW Ontario, flurries expected for Saturday.
Today is hubby's 61st birthday, the kids and grandkids will be over this evening for cake and ice cream.
Keep on stitchin'!
