Hi,

This is our pattern, created from beautiful Artwork by Gloria West. She does have a male equivalent painting called Invoking the Wolf Spirit, if you do a google search for Invoking the Wolf Spirit Gloria West you will see the image at Porterfields Fine Art Licensing.

We are currently in the process of licensing this image and will make it at the same size as the Dream of the Wolf Maiden pattern.

I am not sure if this is suitable but thought I would let you know this one is on its way and we hope to release it on Everything Cross Stitch in around 3 weeks time.

Please let me know if you have any further queries.

Thanks and Best Wishes

Interesting! I believe I prefer her painting of the eagle with the young male dancer. The male with the wolf spirit is also good, however.

Hi Tereena,

Just wondering about the male image Invoking the wolf. When do you think the pattern would be ready and if I could get a notice when of it ready.

Thanks

I did find the male pattern. I have alway done cross stitch pattern kits I have never done a cross stitch like this one. I was just wondering what's the difference between the differnt count on the fabic. The size of this cross stitch is kind of intimidating me.

Hi Towannon,

Yes it was added to the website, but I am just asking Everything Cross Stitch if they can add the sale discount on this pattern as our patterns are currently on sale, also if they can add the supplies list of what cottons and fabric to buy. I will let you know when these have been added.

I have stitched many of these designs myself and have seen many tips and tricks people use to stitch these type of designs so I can help you with any queries you have.

They may seem daunting but are actually quite easy to stitch as they use full cross stitches only. They just do take a little time and patience to complete.

This pattern is 248 stitches wide by 300 stitches high. For beginners we recommend stitching on 14 count, I personally stitch on 18 count as it gives a finer finish and the fabric shows through less between the stitches, especially with dark colours.

The only difference in the fabric counts is the higher the fabric count you use the smaller the completed design will be. Some people, especially with eyesight problems may have troubles stitching on higher counts as the holes are closer together so they can use a magnifier or lamp to help if needed.

So for this pattern stitched on 14 count the design is 18"w x 21.5"h and on 18 count is 14"w x 17"h you also need to add at least 3" all around to assist with framing your finished piece. So if you are using 14 count your fabric would need to be at least in total 24" x 27.5" and on 18 count 20" x 23".

Everything cross stitch will list a fabric suggestion once they add it for you that will be around this size or slightly larger.

Once you have your fabric at the right size you fold it horizontally and vertically. Where the two lines meet in the middle that is the centre of your pattern. We recommend to start in the middle to make sure your design is centered.

The middle of this pattern is noted on the pattern for you as well and this is where you start from.

If you have stitched aot before or your prefer to start on page 1, from the top left corner of your fabric, measure across 3 inches and down 3 inches and that will be your starting point.

You will notice alot of colour changes with these style of patterns.

We suggest to make it a little less stressful for you to just concentrate on 1 page at a time and each 10 x 10 square at a time. Stitch all the stitches of the same colour in that 10 x 10 square or nearby before changing to the next colour. As the pattern is totally filled you will not see your cotton travelling behind the fabric a small distance. If you are stitching one stitch at a time of each colour this would be very annoying.

Many customers also stitch these in a cross country style so they stitch as many stitches as they can of the one colour in the same area, before changing colours. Some make a working photocopy for themselves and use highlighters on the pattern to mark stitches done if you have trouble following the stitches you have completed. I heard the other day that a stitcher uses a yellow highlighter on the pattern to mark the stitches of one colour she is going to stitch in a small area and then after she completes those stitches she uses a blue highlighter to go over the yellow ones stitched and then she knows she has completed them.

Hopefully this information will assist you to get started.

If you have any further queries please let me know.

Thanks and Best wishes

To Towannon

I have done the same I had purchased one of the pattern and I still didn't finish it. I had traced back the designer and I had asked her the same question if there is a male for the picture that I was making. She replied yes I will try to do it in the near future. I wanted to give the female picture as a doll to stuffed and give it to my 6 years old grand daughter and the male when it arrived to my grand sons to enjoy them as toys.
