Changing the Baby
I want to make this birth record but I want to change the baby to an African American, has anyone done that before or done a project with black people? I am wondering what color DMC thread I should use for the hair and skin?

I have changed the color of roses on a piece in the past. I simple went to my local craft store, pulled the color floss called for in the piece, and changed tone on tone from pink to yellow roses. You should be able to do the same with skin color. I have another piece that I'm changing the color of the horse, and plan on doing it the same way. Hope this works for you

I've done this too. You just need to trade the same number of shades, if possible.

Yes, I've done it and it turned out very nicely. Like jlhewes says change out the colors. I substituted various shades of tan and brown for the pinkish ones. I would not use black for the hair, I played with that, because it can look a bit harsh. I used DMC 3371 I believe. It's almost black but not quite. Don't go too dark with the browns. You might have to experiment a bit before you hit on a shade that looks natural and appeals to you. Let us know how it works out.

Would love to hear the outcome of this. I've been wanting to do that to several things such as flowers, hair color. please post the result.

I had to do that with the fur & gloves in Mirabelia's "Royal Holiday". Nora had used blue-greys in a very warm color palette. Very time consuming! Lay out the originals & put your color scheme next to them 'til it's right.

Oh, in case anyone asks, it needs beaver-greys. I may have the color list somewhere.

I agree with all the other suggestions. I have only done it with small pieces. Just take a little time and it will come out just right. Let us know how it comes out.
