This pattern required 25 c white linen or evenweave. Good luck

The fabric used for this is 25ct. white linen or evenweave. and is stitched over one thread. The stitch count is 450 x 222. The finished size is 18 inches x 8 7/8 inches. The DMC floss list takes up 2 1/2 pages. Lots of different colors. It is a beautiful pattern.

I want to do this for my adoptive daughter, as she is struggles to recover from a very hard life and loves horses. I am unsure what size this will be if stitched on the recommended 25 count over one thread, or sizes for, say 14, 16, & 18 counts? I know this will kill me, but I figure it will be the nemesis hiding there while I take breaks with smaller projects. Just purchasing the floss alone will take some painful scrimping and saving, but she deserves it!

Pittsuzan your adoptive daughter will love this beautiful picture no matter how long it works. Hang in there with it.

Would this pic look ok on Aida? If I use Aida would I get 25 count? Thoughts?

Finished Design Size 450 W by 222H , so if you did it on 14, the size will be 32 x 15; 16 ct will be 28 x 13.8; 18 ct will be 25 x 12.33. Hope this helps

Pittsusan, I also have a love of horses, and your daughter will be thrilled with this piece, which I also have in my pile of things to do. I prefer working with Lugana, it's easier to work with than Linen and I personally do not like the way pieces turn out with Aida. As far as saving up to purchase the needed supplies, I understand that all too well. I buy patterns when they are on sale, and I buy floss from Joann's when it is on sale also. To say the least I have to be patient to begin work on a piece, but have the satisfaction that I was frugal and can spend the savings on my live horses in my backyard. The fabric calculator on everything cross stitch's site will help you order the correct amount, I don't skimp on material, it truly makes or breaks the piece.

This picture is very "letterbox".

You could use the 25-ct evenweave, or Aida, if you could find that size. Every square is stitched, after all.

It would look better if more " landscape " proportion. I would take an inch or two off each side, edging it closer to the moon, and removing part of the big rock. You just draw a new verticle line on each side & end there.

I bought 25 count Lugana because I fell, from personal experience, that it has a little bit more "body" to the fabric. I do not belief, after 65 years of stitching, that Aida cloth has ever been sold in this count. It comes in 24, 18, 16, the most used 14, 11, 10, 8. I haven't seen or used the 8 or 10. I even think if I spend savings on floos, that the 25 will be very tiny stitches. However, one of the very few compliments my mother ever gave me was her amazement at two designs I stitched for her with 32 count linen because I was new to the fabric. She thought I was sweet to have paid a print shop print the designs! Wheee!

Pittsuzan I agree with you. In over 30 years of cross stitching I have never seen 25ct. Aida fabric. All Aida fabric I have come across was only in even count numbers. I usually use 16ct. when I do a project. That is what I like and by prewashing with soap and fabric softener it is very easy to work with.
