I am trying to find a piece that will measure out at 17" x 24"

You are going to have to look for a larger piece. Sorry this one is way too small for what you want. you definitely want something a lot wider and higher. The size you want of 17 inches x 24 inches would need a pattern that is 238 stitches x 336 stitches stitched on 14ct. Aida fabric over 1 thread. Hope this helps.
