Needle size
I bought the coffee hand towels. This is my first time doing stamped cross stitch. I was looking at various web sites to find out what size needle to use. It mentioned aida fabric and the count to determine needle size. Could you please explain aida fabric and needle size, or just tell me what size needle to use on the coffee hand towel (stamped fabric).

Thanks

The type of needle you would want to use for stamped cross stitch is a very thin embroidery needle which has a sharp point. You do not want to use a tapestry needle which is used for aida since the stamped fabric you will be working on is very finely weaved and the point of a tapestry needle is blunt and wide and would likely wreck the fabric. During the day, the Everything staff is available to help you select the right needle for your project if they carry it and will respond to your post on this board.

Aida is a kind of cloth used a lot by cross stitchers. It's a basketweave type, with easy to see holes for your X Stitches. A 22 or 24 size Tapestry needle should do. The needles get bigger as the numbers go down, so 22 is bigger. I prefer 24s as an all-purpose size.

Jack Dempsey will have instructions on stitching & how many strands of floss to use, but doesn't include the floss. The floss is for sale on the hand towell page. They have needles in the Cross Stitch Supplies section.

This is a good project. Enjoy!

Oh, sorry. Looked at the description. lbcatlovr is right. These towels are not aida cloth.
