Update on Gladiola Picture #4
I FINISHED GLADIOLA PICTURE #4 AT 11:20 TONIGHT (WED., DEC. 17TH)! IT TOOK ME 51 DAYS AGAIN. THE FRAMER ISN'T OPEN ON THURSDAYS SO I'LL GET IT WASHED AND IRONED TOMORROW AND TAKE IT TO HER ON FRIDAY. I MAY NOT HAVE IT FRAMED BY CHRISTMAS BUT I DO'T EXPECT TO SEE ALL FOUR OF THE KIDS THEN (MAYBE THREE). I WON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF IN THE EVENINGS UNTIL I COME UP WITH SOMETHING ELSE. THIS PROJECT WAS A REAL CHALLENGE! I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE MY PICTURE TAKEN WITH ALL FOUR OF THE GLADIOLAS - I WON'T HAVE ONE FOR MYSELF SO A PICTURE WOULD BE NICE. TIME FOR BED NOW - THINK I'LL SLEEP LIKE A LOG!

Congratulation on a job well done. I could do one but never four. You give me motivation to get my large project done. I am sure they will be well appreciated.
Now sit back and enjoy the holidays, MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Congratulations, Senior Stitcher! You are one motivated, disciplined and determined stitcher. I could never have it! One - yes but four -never. I'm sure you slept well last night.
Your kids will be so excited, be sure to take lots of pictures. I hope that you can get the last one framed so you can have your picture taken with all four before you present them. Will you still include the ribbons your Dad received?
Care to work on some of our "stuff" while you decide what to work on next??? LOL

Thanks to all of you for your comments and your encouragement. I felt like I had a whole cheering section that kept me going. There was only one evening that I didn't work on #4. I don't even remember what I did then but every other evening, I was sitting on the couch, stitching away. I just got the picture washed and ironed and tomorrow it goes to the framer. Hurray!!! Texas Stitcher: I still plan to put one of the rosettes with each picture. (For those of you who don't have a clue what I'm talking about - my Dad raised gladiolas for over 30 years and my kids have been asking me for a long time to find a gladiola pattern to cross-stitch for them. I have a whole box of ribbons and rosettes that Dad won at flower shows so I thought it would be nice to include a rosette with each picture.) My next problem is how to wrap them. I'm hoping there's a store that has a bag (preferably red) large enough for a huge gift that I can put each one in. I checked one store yesterday and they had bags up to 40" but the pictures are 48" so I'd have to get two for each picture (which I may have to do). I still have a little time. Thanks again for cheering me on! Have a Merry Christmas!

Senior Stitcher so glad you got all the Gladiola pictures done. I have been following you while you were working on this project. You are definitely a great mother for doing this for your kids. I agree with you I would use 2 large bags to put the pictures in rather than trying to wrap them. Your kids will be so happy when they see them. Great Job!!!

As for your next project after a little break I am sure you will come up with something to work on. Perhaps a small project that does not take so much thought so you can take a mental break for a while. What ever it is it will be pretty.

Have a Merry Christmas!!

SS, I hope the cheering section didn't put too much pressure on you! LOL
syagel is right about working on an easy project. Maybe you could wrap them in bubble wrap before putting them into bags or boxes. Wish I could send Brenda to you, she is the best gift wrapper ever. She constructs her own boxes if the ones she has do not fit, does precision folds on her paper and makes beautiful bows. Me on the other hand - a bag!!!! I feel guilty after someone went to such trouble and I rip it all off.
The absolute most beautiful gift wrapping is done in Japan. It's been fourteen years, so I don't remember exactly why, but it's something about the wrapping being more important than the gift.
Gotta run. Tons of cleaning, picking up, etc to do. Hope that I'll get to stitch today.
Olivia had a pajama party at "school" today. She only goes three mornings a week. She demands to be picked up at noon because she does not like the meals and refuses to take naps. She can't bring her own lunch due to food allergies, etc other kids might have. It's the other grandparents' turn today.
