KNOTS IN NEW FLOSS
Recently, I have found that when winding a brand new skein of DMC floss I find a knot somewhere in the middle of it. In fact, one skein had two knots in it. Since, I have a huge supply of "new" floss that I have acquired thru gifts, garage sales, hand-me downs, and personal purchases, I have no idea where each individual skein has come from. Once in a while is okay. Every other skein is not. (no pun intended -- knot/not). Any one else encountering this, or am I unique?

I bought about 10 skeins of DMC thread over the past 4 weeks and found a least one knot in 3 of them.

Definitely a downgrade in their quality. While you're not stitching with 8.7 yards, this still effects the lengths you can cut. I've used the whole skein to make cording, which can't have a knot.

I've got about 20 fill in skeins to wind on bobbins. If any have knots, DMC is getting an email.

jlhewes -- they already have an email from me. Maybe if we all write, they will respond.

I have bought alot of DMC floss in the last 6 months but have a very large supply floating amongst my WIP. I have only noticed a "knot" in a few skeins here and there but not on a large scale basis. Will let you all know what I find as I wind floss over the next few months---I only wind it as I need it. I'm hoping this is maybe just a hiccup since we all depend so much on DMC.

I have purchased lots of DMC floss in the last few months and only found 2 that had knots in the skeins when I wound them on bobbins. Don't know what is going on. To me it is no big deal!

Okay, I agree it is not a BIG DEAL. It is irritating that if I don't wind it on an extra bobbin I end up all of a sudden with a 2 or 3 piece of floss.

Wound over 40 skeins tonight. No knots.

Said 20 in above reply, but many more in the floss boxes. Job is now done for a while.
