I find the size of this project a little bit small. I wonder if I can use a lower thread linen to make it bigger? The only problem is no amber linen is available in lower count. What would be a nice substitute?

Don't understand about your thinking that the pattern being so small. The finished size of this pattern is 9.8 inches x 17.6 inches on 28 ct. stitched over 2 threads. How large did you want to make it?

No, you won't get as many colors below 28- ct. Do you know how to Tea Dye? That would work for this angel.
Better yet, nice mats or mat + filet and frame will make her larger.
