I have been stitching for over 30 years and have never done one that was 55 inches long. This is definitely a project for an advanced expert stitcher. It is beautiful and will take you a very long time to complete it. If you are up to it I say "Go for it". Good Luck.

I want to but don't want to waste the money for the pattern if it isn't pretty... I wonder if I can get closer pictures of the finished product and a sample of one of the chart segments....

WOW! What a project. I am sure that it will be beautiful. What is your intention once it is finished. My first thought is that it would be difficult to frame and hang on a wall. Maybe, if you contact Artecy they could show you a better picture. It says in their description that Michelangelo took four years to complete this painting Most of the time he was lying on his back. Wonder how many times he had to backtrack (undo).

I just googled "Sistine chapel cross stitch." It had a picture of this item. It was magnificent. Took the stitcher ten years to finish.

Four years to paint, 10 years to stitch.....that is a LOT of floss! And fabric. But it is magnificent! If I were doing it I might want to break it down into smaller units....would make a GREAT group project! :)

You must have a needy wall over your sofa or bed. Very detailed, though time consuming. The divisions in the ceiling will make this much easier to stay on pattern than a monochrome design like the John Wayne's or Rhett & Scarlett.

If it took other stitchers 10 years to finish, I'd make sure that I am young enough before I got started. At 68, I wouldn't stand a chance. This would take me 30 years to do. LOL

Why not take a trip to Italy and take photos???

This would be breathtaking done in cross stitch. Do you have children or nieces or nephews who would be interested in taking turns to stitch? It could be a real family heirloom!

If my math is right....
The stitch count is 775 x 292

That would be 226,300 stitches.
That would be 2,263 ten by ten grid boxes.
If you did one grid box per day (100 stitches), it would take you 6.2 years to finish.
If you did two grid boxes per day (200 stitches), it would take you 3.1 years to finish...and I'll let you finish the math as far as you would like.
