We have both styles of Ottlite as well. I am considering getting one with a magnifier, but haven't heard good reviews. Any thoughts ?

Lorricat, you would need to place your stitching right under it. ?? Seems difficult & uncomfortable at best. DAYLIGHT CO. makes a variety with really good plastic rimless lenses. Don't like the chest type, since the focus changes with your breathing. Use drugstore reading glasses since my cataract surgery.

I too use the ott light. It has the magnifying glass and a clip to hold your pattern. I agree with JHewes, the magnifying glass is not all that great. You do have to put your project really close to it and it's very awkward. Even the clip is not all that great. You can bend it up and down, but not side to side (where I need it to be). But the light is great.

I use drugstore glasses (3.0 magnification) and it works better than anything else I have purchased. I have two of them just in case.

I have tri-focals on my glasses, then put a pair of 'readers' 2.75 strength on my nose and try to work that way. Looks kinda goofy.I was wanting something that would magnify but not on my nose.I think I am stuck with that, though.

my sister and I were at my brothers in Ca.. my SIL has a magnifier ott light andI found it to be very cumbersome.... you have to be right there and have the light close over your work thus not leaving much rom for your work space..... my opinion it is not worth the money ../Gmakitty

I have a tall daylight lamp that swings over my chair. I had bifocals and used a magnifier that clips onto the eye glasses. Much more convenient and comfortable than the hangy ones. My health insurance will pay for new glasses because my prescription changed,so I explained to the optician what I needed and she will have a custom pair of RX glasses made for me. I am eager to find out how they work.
