Frustrated!!!
Have any of you ever been so frustrated with your stitching project that you have wanted to just to toss the whole thing away??? Last week this happened to me. Nothing was going right with me or my project. I had been stitching all day I was tired, my poor eyes were bleary, my husband and pets were driving me crazy. All in all, a bad time. I decided to put my stitching away for awhile and concentrate on my quilting, my house, helped my husband move stuff into the garage ( have only been asking for 3 years!).
Today I picked up my stitching and pulled out 2 10x10 squares that were.totally messed up. I started stitching straight across the top. I will turn and go back across. It's the kitty face that has all the details and back stitching. Wish me luck!

Don't be too hard on yourself Sydney. We ALL have had those urges. It has been close to 3 weeks or more since I stopped work on my big project, "Sacred Hour".
You're instinct kicked in and you walked away from it! GOOD FOR YOU! And I mean that in the kindest terms. We all have our days and if you ask other stitchers on the chat, I'll bet you they have stories to tell when they felt the need "to walk away" from the stitching for awhile.

Bermuda is completely right Sydney. I am renowned for having so many cross stitch projects going at one time that are all different sizes, some very detailed, some not and require different degrees of concentration but there is a good reason for this craziness---I have a project to suit my every mood and circumstance. I always know that when there is confusion going on in my home, I will not pick up one of my larger or more detailed projects. I will pick up an easy, low detail, stress free project that requires a minimum of attention and usually will calm me down at the same time. I have made the mistake more times than I can count to pick up a demanding or too large a project at the wrong time and it usually ends up having to be frogged/stitches removed and a waste of time and effort resulting in frustration. The best thing to do when life gets hectic in your home is to put down the demanding project and switch to a less demanding project that is easier to fix if you make a mistake. I do this all of the time.

Sydney- I feel your pain. Sometimes walking away is the best answer. I do the same thing.

I love the suggestions. My fear of having more than 2 projects is I will lose my interest but I may try it too.

I, too, have found days when I need to stay away from my stitching. Often a break helps me to go back to a project with more energy and excitement. And too, I have many projectts going, big and small, easy and complicated, for my different moods, while watching TV, when I have little time, etc. I know it may sound crazy to have many projects going at once, but little by little they get done and I begin another to replace it. And some times, I get so enthused that I work on one for the longest time.

I know many of you may be the one-project-at-a-time stitcher. I used to be like that too. I also used to be a read-one-book-at-a-time, but this week I have three going. One I am sharing with my husband and read it when he is not; another is a new one from the library with a waiting list so I can't renew it; and the other is on my Kindle which I can read any time. However, if I find a great book, I do drop everything and read it non-stop. So my stitching is the same way, and I try not to feel guilty letting the house and yard work go for a while :-)

I'm so glad that others are posting their frustrations about their projects. I thought the other day "why am I doing this so detailed pattern, no one will ever care for it?" I walked away from it and took a one hour nap. I've never seen my mother (now deceased) take a nap but it sure made me feel better.
And like you Sydney sometimes my dogs drive me crazy. One is such a shadow that I've tripped over him and sometimes when I'm stitching he lays his head on my knee and looks at me like "remember I'm here". Then there are family situations that are running through my head and I get distracted when looking back and forth on the fabric and pattern --I have to quit and do something else. It's nice to know that we can vent and let others know they are not alone. Good luck coping, we are all on your side.

I am in the middle of one. I am working on :Winter WhiteTails: A buck, doe and spike. Real nice size project for my husband. I will work on it for a few weeks then put it away for a month or two. At this rate I wonder if I'll get it done.
