That's what the pattern calls for? But you can do it all in black and white, if you want....won't be quite the same. :)

This company and several others have beautiful projects that end up looking like paintings. Lots of shading of colors. There are some flosses that you will only have one or two stitches of. Finished work is always gorgeous. Personally, I find it tedious to be changing floss so frequently. I like the simpler projects. I frequently substitute totally different colors than the suggested ones. The cross stitch police will not come after you if you decide to use fewer or different colors.

I personally have this on my ECS wish list and can' t imagine it in any other colors other than what is listed. I believe that designers design with these colors in mind. If they wanted monochromatic colors it would have been designed with those colors in mind. This is just my two cents worth. However, as has been said before, the cross stitch police are not lurking in the background.

I've had my eye on this one too :) Even though it's annoying to buy a skein of thread just for a few stitches, and it's a hassle to keep changing thread, I like these that have "real life" shading. They're worth the effort. . . . Although there are times when I appreciate the simple, quick ones too :)

I ended up ordering it, but I'll get the floss from somewhere else. It just looks like not much coloring or shading goes into it. I am doing one now with butterflies, I have never worked with so much shading different threads and number of threads to a point its hard to get the needle threw. Can't wait to start on this

VCESS -- I knew you were kidding (or maybe sarcastic). This new member of our group needs to get used to us. Now, if you had said that it could be stitched in just one color -- that would be very rude.
