I have a question about this pattern???
Would this be considered a Golden Labrador Retriever Puppy? I have a very special friend who has Lupus it has now started attacking her organs. I am looking for a kit or possibly a pattern & add the thread, but I am on disability and have limited income. I need this ASAP and I'm trying to get others to pitch in, but not having much luck. So I take that she & I are better friends than the others & I want this to be a surprise!! She lost her Golden Retriever recently & I wanted to stitch her this in memory of her dog - Hootie!! Any advice or possibly help me find a Golden Labrador Retriever Kit, because I think I'm over looking it?? Any suggestions, help and/or advice!! I Love Everything Cross Stitch and would like to purchase from you if I can afford it!! This would be the world to her and I want to stitch it with love for her!!!

This certainly looks like a golden retriever puppy. You are such a thoughtful friend to think of doing this for her. Good Luck!

Hate to be a Negative Nellie (I should say Negative Nancye). Here is my opinion.

First -- It is wonderful that you want to make a special gift for this friend. I am sure that she will appreciate it.

Now for the negative part.

Have you been watching this site for a while? Dimension kits are not very popular by our chat members because of the fact that they are skimpy on the amount or floss they give you.

Are you an experienced stitcher? This is on 18 ct aida. The description says that there are 70 items in the kit. Pattern, needle, and instructions are three items. That means 67 threads. I don't know if that means there are 67 different colors or 67 strands of floss. Either way there will be a lot of shading. Also pattern description says there are half stitches.

The finished project will be gorgeous.

I am not saying don't do this project -- just think about what I am saying.

Hi Angela,
Yes, this is a Golden Retriever puppy. I had goldens most of my married life and they sure a sweet dogs!

I agree with Nancye about Dimension kits have somewhat of a bad reputation regarding the amount of floss that comes with the kit. One thought is that you could CONVERT the kit floss and buy DMC floss instead. A lot depends on how much you are able to spend.
There IS a conversion chart to convert Dimension floss to DMC floss on a website called Cyberstitchers.com. There are many stitchers out there that really love a kit and will "change out" the floss to DMC floss.
Have you done much cross stitching?

That's a lot of floss for a 5 x 7. Full and half stitches isn't bad. I don't mind the halves. I don't care for 18 count. Too much work. What is your background in stitching? I agree with the others on the manufacturer, tough call. A lot of complaints about them.

Actually all this stuff went through my head & I'm glad all of you confirmed the amount of thread compared to the size! I think I have found another one in a kit also& it's larger also stitched on14 count which is easier as I don't see well, but wear glasses and that corrects my problem!! Once again ladies you have come through for me & got my brain on the right track! I always second guess myself that's why I posted, because I knew you gals would make me stop & think(for real) about my questioning myself about the thread versus size!! HUGSSS to you all and I so appreciate your help!
