WHILE I WAS RECOVERING
Some of you sent me ideas of how to keep busy while I was recovering. I thought I should let you know how I kept myself occupied. It will read something like HOW I SPENT MY SUMMER VACATION.

Clean House -- nope, too much lifting and stretching.

Watch daytime television. --NOPE

Watched State Fair with Pat Boone. OY VEY -- Not a great flick. Didn't remember that Ann-Margaret played his girlfriend. Not a couple I would have imagined on screen. Pat had his shirt off in one scene. That was as racy as it got. The best part of the movie was Tom Ewell sing to his pig. I honestly enjoyed that.

Didn't get around to doing crossword puzzles -- I do have a few puzzle books in my closet.

I did finish a cross - stitch project. Hibiscus on pink AIDA -- stitch count 80 x 74. It is going to the World of Charity Stitching to be part of a quilt

I did not start a new project.

I narrowed down my choices for my next project

I updated my Excel spreadsheet with my patterns that are scanned into my computer.

I updated my Excel spreadsheet that lists unused DMC skeins of floss -- 653!!

I condensed the storage boxes with partially used bobbins of floss -- went from eleven to ten. The reason I have so much is that I bought at garage sales, people gave me unwanted stuff Also, when I used to work on way too many projects at one time I would have a complete set of floss bobbins for each project.

Tried to spell out "CROSS STITCH" on my kitchen table using ALPHABET cereal. Too bad, I only had CHEERIOS

Contacted DARICE and told them I couldn't unpeel the backing off my wiggly eyes.

Read part of a real book

Took naps and listened to talking books

APPRECIATED MY HUBBY

And that my friends is what I did while recovering

Glad you made the best of your "vacation," you certainly were busy. I applaude you! I hope your real summer vacation is even more exciting!
Has DARICE contacted you on unpeeling the backing off your wiggly eyes?

Wow -- you did keep busy!! Re: the wiggly eyes problem. Did you try scratching across the backing with a sharp needle or straight pin. That will usually give you something to grip to remove that backing that can sometimes be impossible to deal with. I've had that work for labels where the backing really sticks and there is no other way to remove it.

WIGGLY EYES -- Darice sent me an email asking for the UPC number on Friday. Today they sent me another note saying that they were investigating.

I did try piercing with a needle and a pin. Also tried using tweezers. I managed to get a couple off. It was a lot of effort. Ripped both my thumbnails and a fingernail. That hurt. A couple went flying across the room -- good thing I don't have a dog.

Sounds like as much trouble as trying to open those plastic molded thingees that everything comes in these days. Hopefullly Darice will have an answer for you. Good luck!!

Yes, if you had a dog that could be pretty startling taking it for a walk!!!! LOL

Sorry...dipping kitty litter just predisposes you to some visions. :)

A day at the spa for massage, getting the nails done? At least your sense of humor needs no "recovery"! :)

NANCY!
Sounds like you amused yourself while recovering! Good for you! Maybe we could all.write columns for local news! Mosst of us are darn funny, bit you take the cake!
My mom, a veteran crafter, florist amd stitcher, called them "googly eyes". She went to a large craft store to buy some. Since her college minor was theater, when the store manager gave her a blank look, she demonstrated, with googly eyes! He laughed and.took her right.to.them!
Her name was Dorothy. She was wed the same year that The Wizard of Oz movie was released and read the books as a child. She used to do a great imitation of Bert Lahr as The Cowardly Lion for family. Growing up with her was both funny and scary at times. But, her googly eyes remain a great story!
