Needles
What is the number on the embroidery needle package used for? Does it have something to do with the number of stitch per inch? Does it tell you on a pattern a certain size to use?

The embroidery needle is like sewing needle I think the best are from England. They are nothing to do with number of stitches.

The number on the needle package is the size of the needle. Embroidery needles are numbered from 1 to 12. The higher the number the smaller the needle. I use a sharp embroidery needle in the range of 5 or 6 when doing my stitching on Aida fabric. Many people use tapestry needles to do their sewing. Their sizes run from 18 to 28 with 28 being the smallest. It is really up to the stitcher what size they would like to use and feel comfortable with using. Hope this helps a little.
