Plastic needles
I need a plastic needle I can use on 18 aida. I can't take regular needles to work but plastic is ok. What is a good brand and size and where can I get them?

OMG -can't take a sewing needle to work! What is that logic? Unbelievable!! Don't get that logic at all. What other items are banned? Are you allowed to use a stapler or a paper clip? I doubt if there are any plastic needles thin enough to use on 18ct fabric. Can you order sewing needles from your office supply store, have them delivered and just keep them at work?

Who made up that rule?

YES -- I AM DEFINITELY BEING VERY SARCASTIC.

Even the airlines allow you to take sewing needles on board.

We make food so...... glass is also banned. It's for the good of our consumers so I don't complain much. But I would get a lot more stitching done if I could do it on break :)

Amazon has plastic needles but you can ask them if it fit for 18 count Aida. Good luck.

Lady Amos -- Okay you make food. Are you allowed to bring lunches? Isn't there a break room? I understand that the food industry gets a lot of bad press and accusations about certain items turning up in cans or prepared meals. Broken glass in the break room can be cleaned up and not enter the food processing area. If I wanted to sabotage something I could put a plastic needle into something just as easily as a steel needle.

Maybe I am trying to think logically -- not easy for me.

Obviously if someone wants to sabotage something they will find a way. This is just the company rules and on most things I fully agree with them.

Let me ask it this way. What size is a normal cross stitch needle? From what I've gathered they range from like 18 to 28? What size comes in most kits?

Most plastic needles are made for yarn - 22, 20, even 18. I' d suggest taking up crochet & looking for a plastic hook. You must have a scissors problem to.

I may be coming from left field on this but is there such a thing as a "plastic BEADING NEEDLE?"
That might be an area to explore....

Lady Amos. Maybe if you switch to 11 ct aida. If you've done research, you probably know 26 tapestry doesnt exist in plastic. They'd break immediately if they did.
