Of course you can change the count of the fabric for any pattern. The only thing that you are going to have a smaller picture of cross stitch if you use the 18 count fabric. This is a kit That word means it has everything to do with finishing the cross stitch this come in a package with 14 count Aida fabric, floss, and needle beside the instruction and sometimes it has beads or buttons to be added to the cross stitch as embellishment. Have fun

Dimension won't change the fabric, but you should be ok on floss.

Most kits I don't modify too much, but if there's something you really want to change (and this has happened to me in the past) then I refuse to go through all the time and effort to stitch the project without making that small change.

I agree that you wouldn't want to stray too far from the original size of 14 count. I will effect the size and overall look of your finished project, but if you'd really prefer a different fabric then I think you should go for it! White, ecru, antique white, cream...any of these colors would work beautifully. You could stitch on Aida or Linen. If fact, you could stitch 2 floss over 2 squares on 25, 28 or 32 count linen...it would look stunning! I think it's entirely up to you and your preference. It's a gorgeous pattern...definitely on my wish list :-)

Have fun!

I agree....
doing this pattern on an off-white or very light cream so that the clouds of the pattern don't have "bleed thru" of the fabric color. I'm more of a 28, 32 count evenweave fabric stitcher 98% of the time but understand that "seeing" what your working on is a necessity. It would look beautiful in whatever fabric count you decide!

Thank you very much for your heartfelt response. Bear with please as I have difficulty making the necessary adjustments with the sizes because I lack the skill to do so.
Is there a linen like fabric comparable to the 18 count that I could purchase from you that would be suitable in a creme or what have you.

Thank you so much

I would probably stitch it on ivory 32 count with 2 strands of floss over 2 squares. Have you worked with linen before or stitched over 2 squares? If this is new to you, I'm not sure if you'd want to brave it with such a large project.

Bermuda...what do you think?

Hi Bluesky,

If you have difficulty making math adjustments because you want to use different fabric counts and/or
you want a certain size, I would suggest to use the cross stitch calculator here on Everything CrossStitch or the calculator on "crosstitch.com"; their calculator allows you to add the extra fabric inches you want on each side and gives you the size of the fabric you need and the size of the completed pattern. All you need is the width and height of your pattern's stitch count and how many inches EACH SIDE of extra fabric for mounting and fabric. My math is not the best so I depend on these cross stitch calculators to help me out.....
As for the type of fabric you are looking for here on Everything CrossStitch, IF you leave a message for Kristi she will be able to help you on Monday to find the type of fabric you need. This website has EXCELLENT Customer Service; you might also want to leave a request for help on their "Customer Service" tab located above by the "shopping cart".....
