Baby Patterns
Hi all,

I just found out a friend of mine is expecting (due early next year). I'm interested in making a surprise cross stitch for her, but I know nothing about babies and announcements and such! :) I really do want to make something for her and her husband, though. What should I look for when I'm deciding on a pattern?

Thanks!!

You had mention 3 kinds of cross stitch. Do U want something for her, or Her baby or her husband?

U have to decide for what you want so the site will help you. Look on the top for he upper left hand

side where there is the word search write let say that you want something for the baby as

announcement for the birth so you write so. Then when you decide you will go on top to the customer

service and call them and make an order with your credit card. If you want the floss you have to ask

for it too as well the needle and the fabric. Good luck By the way if you know nothing about cross

stitching go to youtube.com they will show you all about how to start it. Good luck to you and the baby

family. Sorry I had forget to tell you under the word advanced search go to cross stitch browse project

and click on what you want there.

Thanks miss c.

I want to make a gift for the entire family as a whole to celebrate the arrival of their baby. I'm looking for tips on how to look for a pattern that would do that best. I haven't had very much experience in this area of life, so I'm seeking some guidance. That's all :)

U have to decide after you finishing the cross stitch on material which frame to use too. I have been

stitching since I was 8 which what my mom had taught me. I had started with a small needlepoint

then when I reached puberty I wanted to go to learn how to type so I can get money when I work

so I switched from one school to another.

You have posted on this chat before so I know that you already know how to stitch.

Go to the search box on the upper left side of the home page.

Type in Birth Announcements.

You will get a bunch of patterns to choose from.

Warning: Do not choose a religious theme unless you are 100% positive that it will be appreciated.

Any other questions. Just ask. There are plenty of stitchers who will give an opinion

Since you want it for your husband and family, including the new baby, I would suggest that you consider looking at a "family tree" cross stitch pattern where you can stitch in grandparents' names, parents' names and including the baby's date of birth. There are a problems I want you to consider though if you decide to do a "family tree" pattern and that is: 1) most family tree patterns have "extra" spaces for more that one child born over the years which would mean "unframing" the completed cross stitch pattern and stitching the additional names to the tree for future children, then reframing.

I made a family tree pattern for a good friend who already had 2 children and was expecting a third child and she said, "This is definitely the last baby!" So the family tree turned out all right. The trick was I had to get the dates of birth for my pregnant friend, her husband, their 2 children and the names ant dates of birth/death of the grandparents. That was a challenge, but other friends of hers over the months of my friend's pregnancy helped me in getting that information while I stitfched the pattern.

Wait until you know baby's sex. Such announcements are usually given after the birth to include date & weight, etc.
