You've got that right about using the black fabric. Can you imagine??? 32 skeins!!!!

I would do it on black fabric, too! 32 skeins is just a bit much, and very boring if it is 310. Then,there is that thin black thing, too.
However,this is one of the best memorials that I have seen for a friend or family member lost to war. I see the results of war and just cry for the world.
I saw what hapoened to my DH and his family and friends when DH's brother was killed in Vietnam. DH still grieves for his only sibling and his parents never recovered...broken people who just could not believe it happened.
Our daughter has the North Vietnam flag that was sent back with him,.as he had captured it in a ptevious battle, but it is so hard on DH that I am afraid to stitch this. He cannot display his brother's casket flag, which is in a nice case.
