Frog came a calling ....
I have to rip out most of the stitching I did last night...sigh...the trouble is that the symbols are so SIMILAR and I was trying to stitch and watch a football game cause my dh was yelling "did you see that" and i was'nt paying enough attention to what I was doing....so I have marked all the symbols in a different color and I will rip out all my hard work and tell my dh to be quiet ( just kidding ) and fix frog legs for Thanksgiving dinner...Barb

YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Frogged out about 20 stitches last night and that was WITHOUT my DH sending out cries of "Did you see that? Watch the replay!" I messed up on placement of the one stitch which created the other 19 to be off by one.....save me some of the frog legs for Thanksgiving, they'll go great with the dressing and cranberry sauce....

Must be the season for frogs to come calling. Yesterday, I also had to frog, close to 100 sticthes from my Thomas Kinkade project. I'm doing it on 28 ct. over one. Boy, that was even more tedious than stitching it in the first place!!! Wasn't paying attention (probably looking forward to another project, & getting ahead of myself), & got one row off. Sure hope those frogs get to hibernating, & don't come again!

For myself, the only thing worse than "frogging" is when I took the "same-symbol, same floss color" stitching down the fabric too far (20-25 rows) and was "off" by a few stitches after I had stitched at least 70 stitches. What a mess! It took me a number of hours of 3 days to get it straightened out! Learned my lesson the hard way; now I only go down 2-4 rows with "same-symbol/same floss color" system.

Miscounting certainly is one of the dangers of the "same symbol, same color" method. However, I prefer that method so strongly, I feel like it's well worth the risk. On the other hand, I do take the time to double check my counting, and believe, also, that is time well-spent. Best of luck with the balance of your project. I totally understand the frustration of ripping out large areas of completed work. You have my sympathy, having watched a friend rip out almost a quarter of her current project for the sake of one misplaced stitch last Saturday.

Frogging is always painful. Pulling out a quarter of her project must have really been frustrating.
I agree with you, the "same symbol/same floss color" does work well; I've learned to double and triple check my counting but still refuse to go down too many rows :)

My horror story is a chart the designer used something like 11 different arrow symbols on. The sad part, after I regained my sanity, was I couldn't remember the designer's name. I so do not want to buy another pattern like that.

OK, it is frog legs for Thansgiving, folks! I had one here, too. So why does it take so much lomger (at least it seems that way) to frog stitches than to make them in the first place? And why does the little pile of any green stitches that I frog appear to resemble a fuzzy little frog? And how come I am transfering my frog prejudice to all amphibians? Must be that my dislike of frogs is expanding...

Our zoo is the latest one to lose its red panda! They are so cute. She was found and returned yesterday, after her escape lasted three days. The lady who found her made "kissing sounds" to keep the little panda nearby, until the zoo people got there, caught Masala the Red Panda in a blanket and got her back to the zoo. The little thing is in quarantine until cleared to go to a breeding program as they are endangered.
Don't worry, she i getting her favorite food, bamboo and other treats while in quarantine. They worry thst she may have picked up a germ or two out in the world. Oh, and the finder got a free family pass to the zoo in gratitude. These little pandas have ringed tails and grow to the size of a medium dog.

Why would a city of 35,000 people have a zoo? Because many many years ago, a travelling animal show broke down or ran out of money here. The old chimp came later from a stage show he did in bars. Now they have the funds for nice habitats and better animals.

Know what you mean about the symbols driving one batty...just finished a small weekend project that had a symbol of two black dots in each square ( angled like the 2 dots on a dice). The pattern had this symbol that was 4 or 5 squares across and 5-7 squares down. It looked like a whole jumble of dots. If it hadn't been for the outline of each square, I would've been banging my head against the wall.
