Found out today by a Needlework shop....
Called a needlework shop day before yesterday and left message if she had any counted cross stitch merchandise or knew of a counted cross stitch shop in the Little River, Conway area of S.C. Left my cell phone number and she was nice enough to call me back to inform me that her store did not and she knew of no cross stitch stores in the immediate areas I spoke of. Stated a lot of stitchers in South Carolina are doing either needlepoint, quilting, crocheting or knitting. She said that last counted cross stitching store she was aware of had "closed about 10 years ago."
I DID find cross stitching stores in South Carolina but they are 3-4 hours away.
So, this just reinforced my decision to buy what I need online ie. charts, fabrics, specialty floss (if desired) and start framing my own. I reminded DH we are going to start next week.
On a better note, we found a framing outlet place (per internet searching), not far from us that sells frames and framing materials for DIY customers, will frame it for you (but I'm not going there, I already saw their prices) including acid-free mounting board. DH and I are going to check the store out this Monday and I'll ask if they sell "spacers" and if they carry a good selection of mats.

Tara C. of You-Tube tutorial fame also had a stapler gun that staples out the front end and used for attaching the U-shaped staples to the frames to keep everything from falling out of the frame. Does anyone have experience with using one and where did you find it?

We go back to the same roots Ebay, Amazon, or the hardware that you have them in your state. I buy almost everything from the net when I need it. I do 't drive and I find everything in front of me and it is cheaper than having a car and fixing it so often and gaz for it to run. What is wrong when the mailman bring it to my door?

I order as much as I can myself but there are those times when I like to look before I buy. Namely when it can't be returned. Besides it's good to get out and see and talk to people.
I ordered fabric yesterday that I am not convinced is the right color. It would have been nice to be able to visit a shop.
Keep ordering Miss C. Let's keep Amazon strong. I have better luck finding items on Amazon than at upscale department stores, especially for DH, and more affordable too. I try to keep their costs low by not selecting the two day delivery. You can also order from foreign countries, Miss C. I order children's books, CDs, games, etc from Amazon.de.

I used to love going into a cross stitch shop and browsing (and buying sometimes) for an hour or so. Many of the cross stitch shops are gone now but it was fun to browse!

Was it ever. I loved sitting with the stitchers around the table and exchanging idea and learning new techniques. The only thing missing was a pot of tea. Stitching and beverages can be a lethal combination. It was so relaxing. I didn't get much done but who cares? I had fun.

Ditto!! Stitchers are usually friendly and helpful and sooo full of joy and curiosity...NOT to say "nosey", of course! L O L

LOL!!! Yes, nosey, but that's how we learn new things by being NOSEY! LOL!

Bermuda, It was bad enough, one of the trees was as old as the house and the other we planted when we moved in almost 40 years ago (damaged a couple of times, but recovered beautifully by a neighbor who was an avid gardener)...and the cleanup will be horrendous, but we were a little chilled, everybody kept their sense of humor, and some actually did a bit of cleanup! :) A visit that ended none too soon for weather, but all too soon for family (for once. :) )

I'm sorry to hear about the damage! I feel bad that you lost such good-sized trees!
Have you thought about maybe replacing some of the destroyed trees with new saplings?

Oh, sure! But been too busy to really think/grieve about it...avoiding looking out back...so much it's just too overwhelming! I need to stitch!

Such a great bunch of souls here...comforting, funny, understanding..."It's a good thing!"...remember her? Tomorrow is another day! :)
