Wednesday Tornadoes
Just a quick note to let you know that the tornado that touched down here in NW Ohio on Wednesday was just 3 miles from my house. I had no damage. but up the road several trailers were lost, roofs taken off and barns blown down. I was lucky. Since I live in the country I actually was standing on my back porch when it was going by. Not the brightest thing I have ever done. LOL It didn't look like all those pictures of tornadoes that you always see on TV.

I am finally getting back to feeling better and actually got some stitching done this week. I can't remember feeling that bad for that long. it was terrible. Now if I could just get rid of this cough.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Oh my goodness how scary. Many years ago Ilived in the country in a trailer while my house was being built and I watched one touch down about a mile from me. You can feel the "anger" in the air. It dissipated shortly but I was holding my breath..

Scary stuff indeed. I saw my first one in MN many, many moons ago. It looked so neat. I was young and stupid and stood outside. Thankfully, it didn't touch down anywhere near us.
syagel, I can't believe that you are still sick. Are you on antibiotics? I had something similar two years ago and found out that I had walking pneumonia. It took a long time for the cough to go away. I did notice daily improvement. We have to go for Prevnar but haven't been feeling so hot and I decided that we should wait. Olivia is sick now, so we probably have to postpone it even more.
Stay indoors during tornadoes. I thought about you when I saw it on the news. Get well soon.

Hope you are improving healthwise daily Syagel. Watch out for the cough not going away. DH had a cough that didn't seem to be getting any better and was diagnosed with walking pneumonia.

Good to hear that you didn't end up taking an unexpected visit to OZ. I heard about the numerous tornadoes that were in the area...friend of mine in Maumee, Ohio heard the air-raid sirens going off and headed for cover....fortunately they were all right but she said the sky had a sickening look to it.

Syagel, First of all, I am glad you are feeling a little better. Hang in there!!! I am sure you remember that I lived in Toledo for almost five years. We had moved in October and when spring came....so came my "education" about Tornadoes. I couldn't believe how many "warnings" and "watches" we got. We were terrified at first. By the end of our time living there....we would stand on our porches and could see them at a distance. It was quite a transition for us. I do remember when we first went out there to find a place to live, we looked at one house....I looked out the back and there was a huge pile of "splinters". The realtor told us "A tornado got that one". I'll never forget it. I am glad you were lucky and didn't sustain any damage. We also gained a new respect for "Canadian air masses" that used to come down over lake Erie. We had a fourth of July party one year. Everyone left and went home to get their car coats because the temperature dropped so drastically! Best regards.....

So glad to hear you are ok and didn't have any damage from the storm. Growing up in Pennsylvania we experienced blizzards......you just stocked up on bread and milk and stayed home where it was warm. Every once in a while a hurricane would come up the east coast and in land far enough for us to get some winds and heavy rain and minor flooding. We just made sure the pumps in the basement were in working order and that we had put anything that could be damaged such as lawn furniture in storage. Now that we're traveling and living in a camper the thought of being somewhere when a tornado hits scares the livin' daylights out of me!!! We were in Alabama once and the sirens went off. We grabbed my computer, our important papers and ran to a shelter. Luckily the bad weather passed us by. We've had tornado watches in Corpus Christi but we're along the coast just across the bay from Padre Island. We always have winds coming in off the bay and usually it's enough to keep the bad weather west of the city. Knock on wood we've been very lucky. We check the weather while we're traveling from one place to another but you still never know when something could happen.

Glad you are okay, syagel! My NW Ohio great-grandma and my grandma both said they felt "tornado weather", which I think is from an abrupt chamge in the barometric pressure. If a big storm is due, even here in NW California, I feel like that, too.
I miss seeing Cardinals, fireflies and the baseball games of the Toledo Mudhens. I do not miss the snow, the horribly humid summers and the cold storms off Lake Erie. I do miss Ohio.
