DMC floss numbers available....
Wow!! Was at Wallmart today and out of 9 DMC floss colors I needed, they only had 4 of the colors I needed. I didn't bother... Took a one block drive over to Michaels and got every color I needed; yes, paid a bit more per skein but saves on having to waste gas and time jumping around to different stores.

Our Walmart usually has the threads all in a jumbled mess. Gives me a headache. I just automatically go to Michael's or Joann's.

Our Walmart doesn't even carry any threads so yesterday I made the 60 mile round trip to get the 8 threads I need for my next project. Isn't too bad right now with fall in the air but it is a pain in the winter. Hobby Lobby had everything I needed but the paper bobbins I like to put my threads on so I went to AC Moore and they had them and some threads but nothing like what they used to carry. Thank goodness for ECS as I can usually order what I need and have it in less than a week. Take care everyone and happy stitching.

I used the offered 20% FB discount right here to purchase all the different kinds of flosses I needed for 2 new projects and several patterns for self and a few to give DD. :) Discounts good! Wal-Mart, yucky! Joanne's very unpleasant drive away! ECS makes me smile! :)

Joanns, Michaels and AC Moore all give military discounts. Another reason to shop there. Hobby Lobby is on the north side of town so I dont know about them.

ella-27: What evidence do you need to show to get the military discount??? I asked the store and they didn't know. DH is a Vietnam vet.

You have to remember to ask for these special discounts. Last time I shopped at Michaels they asked for my AARP card as proof of being a senior citizen. My driver's license was not acceptable!!! I believe the military discount is only good for current members of the armed services and does not include spouses. Also, only good for "retired" vets -- not those who only served a two or four year term.

Funny thing -- now that many of us are over a certain age we are being "carded" again. Makes me giggle

WHY would they demand an AARP card??!!! I quit AARP years ago when I tried 6 times to change my address for the magazine...No joy...and I am certainly a senior citizen by anyone's definition. Funny, AARP can find me to send me crap mail!!!! But not a magazine! :) I think I might have had to challenge that officious jerk to show me their policy! :)

Years ago, I was told I needed a current military ID...and that would include immediate family...including the kids. Unless they aren't doing that anymore--9/11 changed a lot of "security stuff".

Irritating when managers arbitrarily enforce "rules" to save 4ยข.

My husband shows his VA card. He served 4 years in the Navy.

Here in Florida hubby got a V (for veteran) on his driver licence and that's all he needs to get a veteran's discount anywhere. He had to take his discharge papers to the DMV in order to get the V on his licence.
