Bad bobbin buy
I've landed myself with 100 useless bobbins so out they go and back come the tried and true white ones.

The problem is there is too much space between the fastening hacks in the coloured one and your normal floss won't stay put. I thought it was worth sharing.

These bobbins look ok to me. I use them all the time. If you start the floss on the left go across the front of the bobbin to the other side and start winding the floss around the bobbin you can secure the other end of the floss in the other slit. Most of my floss is on these bobbins..

As I said, the white bobbin is fine. The green isn't.

Hi x-stitcher, I agree with you. Maybe if we all wrote and complain about the change's made the old original style would come back. I know exactly what you mean. I'm so glad I have plenty of the old one's to go around.

I agree. Every time I have to buy a new batch something else has been "improved" upon. The hack is too wide as you said, x. The ones I have now have a rough surface on the corners where the numbers are affixed. Speaking of that I have to tape them down. The adhesive on the numbers is worthless. Why do the keep reinventing the wheel?
Back in the eighties while being stationed in Germany, cross stitch supplies were difficult to obtain. My floss was a mess, so DD actually made cards for me. She used the back of notebooks! They worked well.
x, I'm with you, if it doesn't work then out it goes.

Good morning stitch and Texas, I can assure you that the DMC bobbins are still available and still fine. I fell for these others because they came in a variety of colours. Both are made in China. I've never had this problem before so didn't think of looking at the width of the hacks....another thing to go on my check list.
My way of doing it is cutting off the number on the new floss and taping it and the start of the floss on to the end with the hole. I can still use the hole if needed. I'll take a picture and put it on a new topic.
I tried the little numbers but like you said Texas they fall off no matter what.

Could you use the "bad" bobbins for pearl cotton? I personally am not a fan of pearl cotton and own very little.

I only have one bit of pearl Cotten, but I'll keep the bad bobbins, you never know and they don't take up much room.

Usually if I bin something I come up with a use for it soon after. I know, I have some decorative butchers twine and they might just fit the bill.
