Tree Skirt/Tablecloth
I have just started this kit from my stash and I am enjoying it so far. The question I have is should I complete each cat/dog as I go or wait until the end to do the back stitch/couching/cording/tassels? I didn't realise how big this was going to be until I opened out the fabric - it is huge!! It is supposed to be 45 inches in diameter ad I will probably make it into a tablecloth. Your thoughts please.

I, personally, dislike backstitching and the other stuff you mentioned. Do it section by section as you stitch. I would definitely not save it until I finished everything. It would NEVER get done!

I'm with you, Nancy. I hate backstitching, French knots, and anything else besides cross stitch. I always do all of that as I go, instead of saving it at the end. This is why I love the intricate charts, no backstitching or outlining.

The instructions also say to use a hoop when stitching. I am stitching free hand at the moment as I found a hoop was not easy to work with . Your thoughts please.

Using a hoop is not mandatory. I almost always use one , even when stitching small projects. It keeps you fabric taut. If you are more comfortable stitching by just holding the fabric that is what you should do. There are no mandatory rules that you have to follow. I promise not to call the Cross Stitch Police and tell on you!

The important thing to remember is that this is supposed to be a fun hobby. ENJOY!

Have a Stitching Day

Nancye You are a pearl beyond price - always a fount of knowledge. I just wondered about the hoop as the material is 10 count Aida but it seems to be alright at the moment.
