Humming bird patterns
I bought several of the hummbing bird patterns. I just started the Blue-throated Humming Bird and my counting isn't matching the pattern. What am I doing wrong? The lettering appears to have two - three symbols in one space. I have torn out my stitches five times and still it doesn't look right. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If they're in one space, they're part stitches, probably quarters. They take up 1/4 of the square each, or 1/2 of a single X Stitch. Come up on the corner (hole) of the square where the symbol is placed & go down in the middle of the square. Evenweave = 1 thread diagonally. Aida = use a sharp needle to pierce the 4 crossing threads between holes. Good luck!

Hi there.

It is the manufacturing mistake that they did t get to copy of the pattern with the same printed position and sometime the pattern is cut and printed and taped too. I had so many of this mistakes in my cross stitching patterns during my life time good luck. Call the company who they makes the pattern and explain to them what had happened.

I would agree with jlhewes assessment. The stitches are most likely to be quarter stitches or partial stitiches. What hummingbird patterns are working on? Maybe you could call or email customer service at ECS and they could tell you what stitches are in the pattern (whole or partial). Also the pattern itself may have instructions or illustrations about the stitches used on the pattern.

This is Crossed Wing Collection, and yes, they do use partial stitches.

Jlhewes is correct about the answer. Do what she says.

Do not listen to Miss Crossstitch's answer. She is wrong. In 30 years I have rarely had a mistake in a pattern.
