I live in Northern California but am also stitching and praying as I watch a live news feed of the protests and all the fires burning. It seems as if some small family type busunesses were burned...a Little Caesar's pizzeria, a beauty shop, a chicken restaurant...and some name brand stores such as Auto Zone and Walgreens.

This, to me, indicates a random arson riot situation, which is frightening, regardless of one's race or skin color. If it were only businesses that prey on the less fortunate, such as exclusively rental furniture or rent-to-own places, it would seem logical. We all fear the unknown and random arson can tear the heart out of a community. It is remarkable that no one has died from these actions.

I understand anger well. I just don't understand the need to take it out on innocents. And, yes, I have been angry and protested, but never inflicted my views on others by violence. Keep praying!

I am stitching and praying too. I am old enough to remember the protests of the 60's and "this ain't it". The decision by the grand jury was correct. The agitators don't care all they want to do is destroy property and cause trouble. All this does is destroy businesses run by innocent people. I see where Al Sharpton is there now. That is going to be nothing but more trouble. He is more racist than any white person I have ever known. His goal in life is to just keep everyone stirred up. Sorry guess I better get off my soapbox.

Thanks for your continued prayers for St. Louis. It has been a hard day. Though I am a retired teacher, many of my friends are still in the classroom, the kids are affected, the teachers live in these areas.. they are affected) I am working part time at a retail store in Kirkwood, MO. (south of Ferguson). It was sunny, and customers were friendly ,but the mood was not light. I have a storage locker. all my stuff in boxes. I live with my mom after a crumby divorce. When I saw that storage building burning it hit home (fortunately, my locker is not there). So many sad stories and lives changed. Each stitch tonight, each thought and prayer will be for so many touched by these acts and the discouragement they are feeling. I have friends whose husbands are officers and, our DARE officer, she too was called in. Stitching, stitching.

I'm stitiching and praying with you ladies. Syagel, I absolutely agree with you. I am sure you all have heard of the shooting of a 12 yr. old in Cleveland. (I am about 20 min. west of) It has not escalated like Ferguson but you never know. I just don't get it. But none the less am concerned what could happen. Hoping everyone has a safe, peaceful Thanksgiving.
