Thread question
So I have cross stitched for many years but put it down when life got hectic and I found another passion called quilting 😀 I remember now that I DO NOT like krenik and I am down to end of my project and dreading doing it!! I was not paying attention and my pattern called for 3 threads throughout the piece and I used only 2. When I tried doing a small area with the krenik it's so much more bulky than my 2 strand stitches! My question is.. Can krenik be split like a six strand floss and since its been years since I have stitched is the something else out there now a days that will feel better then this scratchy mess!
Help lol

I'd love to try to help. First, WHAT Kreinik are you trying to use? And how? If it's a silk, by all means split it! If it's one of the metallics, do not EVER try to split it.... just buy a smaller size. More information would get a better answer from me, and I look forward to it!

It's the metallic krenik 😳😳😳 Since I messed up and and didn't use 3 strands of dmc floss this metallic krenik is so thick. It's #8 fine braid. I am cross stitching a old pattern out of a leisure arts hard back book and it called for that thread specifically so I ordered it off amazon. I did order some light effects silver off this website wondering if it will be thinner?!
Thanks for the reply!

Kreinik has a #4 Very Fine Braid. You might switch to that and see if it will work better for you. If you're using an old pattern, the #4 might not have been available back in the day.

Thanks so much for the answer. I am going to order some of that #4 and see if it is thinner!

Hi,
Another option (if the fine braid is still too bulky), is go to the Kreinik "blending filament" and see if that will work for you. The blending filaments have a lot of different colors. Try with 2 stands and see if you are getting the coverage you want without the bulkiness. Please inform us if the fine braid works out for you or not; I've not used the "fine braid" and am curious as to how it works out.

Hello everyone:)
Just wanted to update:) I got my number 4 Kreinik and have started to sew with it and it is sooo much better then the #8! I sinks right in with the surrounding stitches and look so even and nice. If I can figure out how to add a picture here I will.
Thanks everyone for the help!
