American Dream Scroll Bar Frame
Hi there everybody!

I contacted ECS three times using three different methods since Sunday 22, but up until now I still haven't gotten a reply. I'm not sure why since a couple of days before that I contacted them regarding missing items in my order and they answered and fixed it right away...so I'm trying my luck here =)

Well, I am interested in purchasing the following items, but upon reading some of the reviews, I just want to make sure I've gotten everything to make a complete scroll bar frame for my project.

- Scroll Rods 30" Heavy Duty
SKU: 071708

-Knobs For Needlework Frames
SKU: 071658

- Extender Bars 12" Oak
SKU: 071651

They are all from the same company so I am wondering if I am missing any other components to make a complete scroll bar frame and also, if I will be able to use all 30 inches of the scroll rods.

Thank you so much in advance! I've been waiting to start this project for quite some time...

Members of this Chat are not employees of Everything Cross Stitch. Just a group of male and female stitchers who like to share their ideas, opinions and advice.

I'm don't know why you had difficulty contacting ECS earlier this week. I know that this company has an excellent Customer Service record.

I am sorry to tell you that Everything CrossStitch is closed for a 4 day week-end.

I suggest that you send them an email directly the customer service area. That will put you on the list for a personal reply Monday morning.

Thanks. I just found out that they have a four day weekend, but started just yesterday. I don't know what happened either as I mentioned I sent them emails since Sunday. I have gotten replies very quickly regarding missing items from my order so I am not blaming them or anything and I know they have a great customer service record...I'm just a little confused as to what might be happening...

So I thought I'd try my luck here hoping that maybe other stitchers here may have or are using this scroll bar system from this company...to share a little more info and help out another cross stitcher who is stuck wondering what I will need to make a complete frame to start on a project.

And I did, first one I sent straight from my email to theirs. Second I used their customer service link - "contact us" on the top and third, I also sent a message using their form under the "November Specials"...I will give it some more time because I know I am not the only customer here and they are busy maybe with the holidays or something, but it won't hurt to try the message board. Like you mentioned - people here are "just a group of male and female stitchers who like to share their ideas, opinions and advice" and that's exactly what I need - advice =) I really don't want to purchase this blindly too not knowing that I'm missing a whole bunch of other components to build a complete frame...because to where my orders are being delivered to, it usually takes at least a week...

I just hope I don't receive three replies from ECS now...lol

Tina, I use these scroll bars and love them. I have 2 of the 30" long, but because of weight, I got the 10" extender--I am an old woman with a wrist issue, so...

I suggest a visit to the American Dream website...You have ordered what you need, if you have also ordered the Velcro tape for your fabric, and your scroll bars have pre-attached tape. I suggest the website so you can see exactly what are ordering...not to order, just to SEE. I bought my stuff on sale from all over the web...including ADP.

Tina,
You might want to consider calling them at Everything Cross Stitch on Monday to clarify everything.
Their phone number is: 1-800-800-8517. They are very good at helping their customers!
I'm not an employee of ECS, just one of the other stitchers on their "Chat" board.
We are a diverse group.....:)

You will have to order these sizes directly from American Dream. 12" extender bars will cause you tension problems with the fabric. You will need to lace the fabric to the extender bars, use shorter (8") extender bars, or find "mitten clips" somewhere (clip on each end, meant to hold kid's mittens to jacket)

Lol, thanks Bermuda.

With the information that VCESS has provided me, I'm quite confident to make my purchase after visiting the website provided.

I've been using the scroll bar frames with the slits and tightened with the nuts and bolts...but the longest one in length that I have didn't quite make it...I needed extra room for extra fabric for framing later on. So as soon as I saw the 30" scroll bar...I was happy. Then read the review and realize that's not enough and it's a totally different system...but I get all 30 inches with this one.

But thanks again for all the replies...I just hope I didn't annoy them with the multiple emails that I sent - I was kind of desperate to make my purchase before the holiday...lol

And thank you very much to VCESS for the info on the scrolls. All the best in your cross stitching with many more years to come =)

Oo, thanks jlhewes...

I'll take that into consideration too, I'm not sure how it's going to work and how it'll bring tension to my fabric...but it definitely won't kill me to listen and go for a smaller set of extender bars...lol...because I definitely don't want and don't like it when my fabric end up being "pulled" and stretched into different directions while working...

But is there a reason I need to purchase these from the American Dream website? I see the 8" available for sale here too...I'll feel bad if I were to you know...ask for help here and make my purchase elsewhere lol =)

Rina,
I wouldn't feel bad about asking for help here and then purchasing somewhere else! NO cross stitch stores on-line have every supply or part or frame or fabric that's needed. LOOK AT MY POST TITLED "Mat Cutters". I'll buy the Mat cutter somewhere other than ECS, because they don't carry mat cutters, but I need input from the experience and knowledge of other stitchers that have done mat cutting....:)

Personally, I'd cut them some slack. We often had people who took all of this week off for family reasons. So, there you're running on 3/4 staff, or worse. It is a major holiday, celebrated across the board regardless of religion. They'll get back to you.
