Cross Stich
I love to cross stich and have been doing so for years. I have arthritis in my neck so can not longer put my head down to stich. If I do so within 24 hours I will have a migraine. Any suggestions on tools that might be helpful for this situation? Need to be able to keep my head in a upright position. Thanks for any help on this matter.

I do love cross stitching too as they say cross stitch does love me. But I get the migraine too from nothing or the flash of the sun. I have Arthritis as my mom and my grand ma. I take Naproxen to relieve the pain. U can get it from your doctor or buy it from Amazon.com. That all what I can tell U. Hope G d will cure all aliments. Say Amen.

upnorthcindy....There are different types of embroidery hoops which come on "stands" for table top use. These have regular embroidery hoops which are supported by a stand. If I were you...I would look into something of that type...also you can get standing frames that will allow you to attach your fabric at the top and bottom and you "roll" the design down as you make it. When I used to make needlepoint pictures this is what I used. Either of these would help you keep your head in a more "upright" position. You can google: cross stitch equipment in your search engine and you will be given many choices!! Good luck to you....(I am a Stitcher in the chat room...I do not work for ECS.)

I have the same problem. My fix is, I bought a desktop easel, I have a table that is high enough that I place it on the table, use a magnetic board to put my pattern on and then I hold my stitching at least waist high which keeps me from having to look down to stitch. So far this works for me and I have been doing this for a couple of years with no strain on my neck. Hope this helps. I would hate to have to give up stitching, I get such pleasure out of the creations produced with threads.

Oh my gosh that is a great idea. Thanks so very much. I would be very sad to have to stop stiching!

Hi again

I was thinking of U all night for the same problem that I have. Please as an advice do not nap during
the day. Buy new pillows, Let the (( hot)) shower hit on your neck. U can use bengay for relieving the pain too. I just notice that there is something as a heating pad looked like a short vest at walgreens store. I think it will help you relieve the pain too. Here what all I had given as advise massage it by hand.

Sometimes I think my husband believes I make these things up so nice to know I'm not the only person that has an issue with arthritis/migraines etc! Thanks for the advice.
